I wish Walmart would just announce that they've decided to expand into commercial port operations. Between the exploding head on FR and in the longshoreman's unions it would sound like quite a fire fight.

Until the most recent elections inside the Palestinian Territories, AMERICA was the largest monetary supporter of the PA. I guess we shouldn't run the ports either!

What's truly pathetic is how the "true conservatives" are adopting DU rhetoric ("Bush is stupid," "Bush is a crook," "the Bush family does business with bin Laden," et cetera)

Uninformed people should just keep their mouths shut.

Spoken like a true mafia boss. Could you do that with an Italian accent and add something about swimming with the fishes?

The sheeple are waking up and looking around because of stories like the port deal. What they see is our Republican leadership saying we have NO security problems, while our borders remain wide-open. They see us in a war against terror, yet we allow UAE to manage US ports. When the sheeple take a close look at who owns many American businesses, not only will they be shocked, they will be pissed. Some of us have drawn a line in the sand already with GW. Others will follow shortly.

That's the best you can come up with, mafia boss? Hey, if you're ignorant about something, it is best to shut up and learn. But nobody here is going to make anyone hide their ignorance.

Good point....however, you forget that the UAE was the first country to support the Hamas AFTER the recent elections (when all other countries did otherwise). The other "ally" in the region-Saudi Arabia-has joined the UAE now.

This port story reminds me of the situation in the mid eighties when the Japanese were buying up the United States and legally taking over Hawaii...

Since General Franks stated that the UAE was instrumental in our success in Afghanistan, and that they spied on the Taliban to feed us intel, your argument seems to lose steam. You have to have contacts with the enemy, to find out what they are doing.

Actually in Baltimore it is a hot topic, as well as Kimmie Meissner at Olympics.

On a serious note, I think that Bush team gave Democrats an excellent opportunity to grandstand, and handled the whole situation with its usual disregard to public communications. Even if there is NO security risk (and I think, without any hysteria, that at minimum it can expose our security holes to the enemy within the operating company), they neglected to communicate it to all the key players and the public, supporters included. Republican Governor should not be left hanging.

It is dismaying to see again and again the incompetent communications when conservatives have no lack of talented communicators (talk shows don't command attention of millions for nothing).

The "War On Terror" certainly seems to have no limit when it comes to restricting our freedoms.

Keep dreaming. This article is spot on. If the RATS run anyone even remotely normal, coherent, and not completely out of their minds, they will win.

If the President wakes up in the morning, the Democrats think that it is a scandal.

"When Bush Bots Attack" will start now! LOL! I agree with Wes that this President is throwing away our advantage in this next election. I know the President has a good heart, and he's truly trying to change things in the ME, but you must have a sense of reality when it comes to our security. Now I see that it's actually 21 ports, and not the 6 we were originally told about. Unfriggin' real!

I'm sorry. I had this quaint notion that the President and the Secretary of Defense would have more access to information, especially in a time of war, than would I.

Maybe I am reading this incorrectly, but does the act of Congress in the 90s, (early 90s or later 90s?) mean that security regarding corporate dealings, trumps national security?
