Many have reservations?

As a IT professional, I work with a lot of recent Indian immigrants. I couldn’t agree more with you statement about Indians. Without exception, I’ve found them to be hard working, professional, polite and smart.

I can say, without a doubt, that every Indian-American (or generally first generation born in my experience) I have ever known are among the most intelligent, amibitious, and positive contributors to society I have seen in my life.

The Indian family that moved in next door to the house where I grew up is a perfect example. The father owns a Kwik-E-Mart. His two daughters have gone on to do well in college. Last I heard, his oldest daughter was in graduate school for biology or something like that.

The trend is South Asian male-Caucasian female, which inverts the trend for East Asian-Caucasian marriages. A friend of a relative wrote a hybrid "Hinjew" ceremony which they have spread far and wide, and all the couples were Jewish woman, Hindu man.

I would guess that South Asian men far outnumber women among immigrants in their 20s and 30s. The American-born population/children still have far to go to become a major share of the community.

...South Asian male-Caucasian female [coupling]

I must say, it often produces amazing results...like this one:

One of eight sisters, Katrina was born to an Indian father and an English mother.

In the Chicagoland area, Hindus also dominate the SubWay restaurants and 7-Eleven. The Pakistanis are in charge of the gas stations.

If Asian Indians start voting in great numbers, it may cause a problem for the GOP. Many Hindus & Sikhs are secular-minded. With Southern Baptists openly declaring their intentions to convert non-Christian Americans, the RATS could scare Indians into voting for them. Rep. Jim McDermont of Seattle did such a thing in 2000.
