Iran could try to close off the Strait of Hormuz (and almost certainly would try if American & Iran were at war) but either way the UAE would be of little consequence.The UAE juts right into the Strait and there are roads that can bypass it. At the very least it's a good place to set up shop for a while.
I can't help but think that this port deal has a lot to do with Iran.
