You've got to wonder exactly how long they expected the federal government to support them.

These are the people the federal government has been supporting their entire lives.

I think the 3 months eviction timeline is for landlord/tenant situations. I don't think this relationship qualifies as such.

What matters is if some leftist judge sees it as such...

Most restaurants hand you a single sheet of paper when you walk in and that is their menu...maybe 6 items. They have the food distribution, they need people to work! Most fast food places still only have the drive thru open...no sit down service. BK and Popeye's are handing out hire-on bonuses in the thousands of dollars. Work is available and they are more then willing to hire someone who has never done the work before so this crap about the government needing to help them is just that...crap! Get off your arse and get a job and start taking care of yourself!!! There is no excuse not to and that is what people around the country need to hear!

A couple of points.

1) In the weeks following Katrina most restuarants needed help bad. Even in February, most are on a limited schedule. However, the warm body rule no longer applies. (It may to fast food but I never eat in those places.) Most restaurants want people with some modicum of experience to wait tables as of Feb 13, 2006.

2) Most of these people who are being evicted have absolutely no job skills whatsoever. You wouldn't hire them to be a greeter at Wal-Mart let alone something that required cognitive ability. As much as it may pain freepers to hear this, it may be cheaper for the federal government to pay these people to watch tv. Any meaningful participation in the economy by these people would be an utter disaster to private industry.

What you need to understand is that with just a bit of government involvement, the people of Najaf can easily be made into people just like those of New Orleans...

My Husband was talking to a roofer. The roofer had knocked on the door of a house that still had a blue tarp roof. Many folks were on waiting lists for all of the construction trades after the storms. He told the homeowner he could repair the tarp for him if he was still waiting on his insurance/FEMA money. Seems the money had come but the blue tarp made SUCH a nice roof they didn't find it necessary to spend the money on repairs. They had a most excellant Christmas, thanks to the taxpayers!

This is a lie. Any settlement check from a homeowner's insurance policy will contain both the payee's name as well as the name of the mortgage company. The check must be endorsed by the mortgage company and they release the funds to the contractor in advance of repairs.

If these people have no mortgage, then they are free to do whatever they want with their insurance money.

Furthermore, if you have homeowner's insurance FEMA will not pay for repairs.

That's odd cause I've seen the checks from homeowners ins and FEMA covering what the homeowners ins didn't. And as far as the checks going to mortage and payee..that does happen sometimes. My Husband worked a job where sometimes the check went to the homeowner and mortage co, homeowner and contractor and one to the homeowners late spouse.

Just from what I've seen, seems the rules were always changing. Of course it has been unusual times for everyone.
