83. By tomorrow this is how it will read:
Vice president Cheney saved the life of a fellow hunter Saturday in Texas. As the Vice President was taking a well deserved stroll after hours of intense discussions with foreign diplomats, Cheney noticed a deadly moccasin rattle snake approaching one the dignitaries, fangs bared, ready to strike. Cheney drew his gun and shot the reptile before he could kill the man, who happened to be a highly decorated war hero. Cheney's quick response saved the man's life, said his wife (and mother of his five children). The man was slightly injured by fragments of stone that struck his torso during the incident. The vice president will receive a medal of honor for his heroism and bravery. "

Suuuuure it was an "accident". The target probably Knew Too Much about Halliburton, the Saudi Connection, LIHOP/MIHOP, Diebold, and the real genuine National Guard memos hidden in Karl Rove's files.
I'm sure there are at least a dozen threads on DU explaining all this....

I dont know a lot about hunting, having never been myself, but isnt a sort of cardinal rule to always know where your companions are before taking a shot?
Im not implying it was the Vice Presidents fault as his friend might have been in the wrong place isnt that called being down field? You hunters out there will correct me if Im wrong.

Cheney steps aside on some pretext,
Condoleezza Rice assumes Vice Presidency.
Rice runs in 2008 as incumbant candidate.

I'm curious. The way things are now, would one of us be charged with a crime if we did it?
To: bayourant
I'm sure it's not the first time a lawyer has been shot, but it could be the only time it's been accidental.
To: bayourant
So rumors that Cheney shot Dan Quayle are wrong?

Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon. Dick, Dick! Sigh.
Lawyer season ended!!
You are not supposed to hunt them till Law Day, May First. They are fat and plump by then, and have not started the Breeding Season.
(Ever try to CLEAN one of those things, though??)
To: bayourant
Ouch! That had to hurt.
Glad no one was killed, though.
The 78 year-old must have forgotten everything he ever learned in Hunter Safety Class.
