You're right about the bitterness. She does seem to have a thing against Bush.

But here she's definitely laughing at the Bill and Hill show, and although I think she's admiring the sheer cojones of these two, she's definitely appreciating their entertainment value--because she sure as heck doesn't agree with their politics.

Well, I have to tell you...I am often stunned at their chutzpah

They remind me of the resident villains on soap operas.

Outlandish, powerful...entertaining. But badly written, poorly lighted...and you always hate them.

If that were the case, why in the WORLD would Sr. and Jr. Bush show up to such a "horrible" person's funeral??

I'll reply by pointing that the answer is hidden in your very question. Because it they hadn't, it would have created a scandal among the uninformed masses. Uninformed, because the doings of Mrs King and her children were all over the liberal MSM media six months, a year prior to her death, as nopardons described them. "Horrible person"? You said that.

---MLK was wiretapped... and at the time the excuses were "national security" or somesuch because of his anti Viet Nam war views. Not surprised that this was brought up...---

Then perhaps to celebrate our wonderful free speech the President could counter that those wiretaps were put in place by a Democratic administration with the approval of the sainted Robert Kennedy, and then he could snidely add that he would not go into detail about the salacious sexual material that came to light. But wait, of course he couldn't!

The President was a sitting duck for their cheap political attacks. There is nothing particularly charming or American about this spectacle at all. It's just more cheap political opportunism from a party with nothing else going for it.

LOL!

Yes, and they're getting that ghoulish overly-made-up look about them that makes people say "They look so GOOD! I mean, for their age" when in fact they look like they've been made up by an overeager embalmer.

And when I say "they" I mean Hillary... ;) Man she's a load!

I'm just a little sad that I used to really look forward to reading Peggy Noonan's columns each week. Now they're hit and miss, and although I still mostly like her style of writing, it seems like she's trying a little too hard to play to the 'squishy middle' and is a little too 'appeasing' and unwilling to call someone on bad behavior or blatant pandering...

She used to have a soft style but a steely interior.

Now it's like she doesn't want to fight anymore and wants everyone to be nice. And she doesn't think W is nice enough.

After reading her I need to read some Ann Coulter to get the taste out. Ann gets some facts wrong but she brings some things to light no one else does.

And THEN I read Michelle Malkin, and balance returns...

A better view on it:

Pres. Bush 41 Slams Attack on Pres. Bush 43 at King's Funeral
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/10/politics/main1303595.shtml

"Former President George H.W. Bush has expressed dismay and anger at attacks on his son, President Bush, at the funeral for Coretta Scott King.

"'In terms of the political shots at the president who was sitting there with his wife, I didn't like it and I thought it was kind of ugly frankly,' the former president said in an exclusive radio interview with CBS News White House correspondent Peter Maer. ... "

Okay, that was officially stupid. A funeral is to honor the dead, not make an @ss of yourself. Peggy Noonan comes dangerously close to nihilism here. Carter was showed everyone why people liked him until they got to know him during the seventies.

It wasn't a beautiful display of democracy, it was a pathetic display of pettiness.

She really does frighten me. There is something so calculated about her face, so self conscious...it really kind of freaks me out. Like those slightly opaque masks that make everyone look the same.

Bill is Bill. But at least there isn't very much hidden away.

It's the combination that makes this due exceptionally chilling. Like one person who has been split into two half people. A visual split personality. He's all party, she's all business. Weird.

What? It was "better" because Kennedy ordered the wiretapping?

I read Mark Steyn and think "Dang, wish I'd said that." Then I read Dave Barry and think "I'm going to steal that line."

Please learn some recent history. You could NOT possibly be more incorrect about WHY Bobby Kennedy had MLK Jr. taped, if you tried!

There was NO big anti-war movement going on, at that time; those against it were card carrying COMMIES, fellow travelers, and KOOKS. The Kennedys wanted to STOP the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT; they were anti-black bigots! And, at that time, most of the Southern Dems were virulently so. Kennedy, no matter WHAT you've been told, was NOT a popular president in life! hell, he went to Texas, because he was about to lose that state, in the coming presidential election; even with a V.P. from Texas.

This reminds me of that truly unfortunate column about last years SOTU address.

The fluff of Peggy's wispy blond hair has reached into her head. Her fine writing is nearly all but over, like a musician who had three good songs in his long ago past.

A rhyming preacher, one of the old lions, a man of warmth and stature, freely used the occasion to verbally bop the sitting president on the head.

More like sleaze preacher stabbed Bush in the chest.

Peggy, get it right.

Do you mind if I steal the lines:

"Dang, wish I'd said that."
and
"I'm going to steal that line." ?

Because of the REVISIONIST history, which has now made this woman and her husband out to be tin-pot gods.

Not attending her funeral, would have given the Dems and the MSM even MORE of a field day.

Good grief...don't you know or understand ANY recent American history at all?

Kennedy, no matter WHAT you've been told, was NOT a popular president in life!

Well that was obvious... they blew his brains out into his wife's lap in broad daylight!

But what you said confirms further that the politics/values of the Kings were not exactly those of the currect POTUS and his father.. so why were they there lending credibility to a civil rights golddigger?
