we want to emphasize that our patient is not rapidly progressing.

I am happy for the patient and ask the following question from an academic, rather than human or emotional viewpoint. Assuming this means that the DISEASE is not rapidly progressing, I ask if this doesn't mean that the inevitable bell curve of this strain, as with any infectious disease, is therefore flatter, thus allowing the possibility for more spread? Is that good epidemiological news for anyone not personally involved?

an injected drug known as an entry inhibitor.

This is exactly what they need.

That's the problem with some viruses. They take a long time killing the host, thereby allowing the host to infect a number of people before dying. AIDS, unfortunately, has been one of those diseases. Certain outbreaks, like Ebola, are highly deadly, but often "burn out" before too many people pass it on.

He said that the superinfection between two partners might reinforce recommendations that even when individuals who are both infected by HIV have sex that safe sex activities are warranted. Ya think?

What are the chances that CT01 & CT02 had sex with the New York man EXCLUSIVELY?
I have not seen articles detailing the number of sexual contacts of these two INDEX PATIENTS at the October
Orgy-thon party.

...but is able to keep his viral load undetectable on a combination of Sustiva (efavirenz), a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, and Fuzeon (enfuvirtide), an injected drug known as an entry inhibitor.

Great - BTW what's his taxpayer load? How much does this moron and his partner cost the general revenue taxpayer for his "load" of antivirals, reverse transcriptase inhibitors and entry inhibitors?

Well, if the homosexuals and liberals ever wonder why we don't respect their "life partnerships," this case might serve to illustrate.

Where to begin?

...life partner...

...might have had more to do with that patient's sex and drug habits...

...viral load ...

...engaged in unprotected sex with the New York City case at a sex club where individuals engaged in unprotected anal intercourse with the New York City man.

...devastated to find out they had transmitted the disease because they believed that all the people at the club were HIV-positive.

...frequent use of crystal methamphetamine and frequent sexual partners.

...had sex with at least 10 other partners before he discovered he was infected.

... he was infected with both the original strain and his partner's strain.

What a sewer.

Dr. Blick said his patients were devastated to find out they had transmitted the disease because they believed that all the people at the club were HIV-positive.

He thinks that his patients were devastated! I bet some other doctor's patients are upset because they believed that all the people at the club were HIV-negative.

Any way you look at it, when you play with fire...

According to published reports the New York City man had sex with at least 10 other partners before he discovered he was infected.

All of which could have occurred on the afternoon before the party when he had sex with at least 50 others. I'm not exaggerating.

NORMAL T-CELL COUNTS RANGE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 500 AND 1500 CELLS PER CUBIC MILLIMETER.
THE New York man has maintained approx 80 cells per cubic millimeter while on EFAVIRENZE &
ENFUVIRTIDE.

** PLEASE CONSIDER MY FIRST REPLY...THOUGH I ACCIDENTLLY ADDRESSED IT TO MYSELF...

Wait, wait wait....

We have Drs trying to isolate the pathogens, and meanwhile they're out stirring the RNA soup?

Hey, let's let them all get legally married so there will quickly be twice as many HIV/AIDS patients in the insurance pools with us!

Yeah, that's the ticket! </megasarcasm>
