"the acceptance of "titty" restaurants (hooters) as normal and good is making animals of our young people....."

Asexuality is a state of androgeny, which allows for ill-defined and deviant sexual practice; you will not find gay men at Hooters, nor butch-culture lesbians.

America needs more public displays of heterosexuality to achieve normalcy, not less.

There's a quote from one of the ancient Greek philosophers, bemoaning how the youth were rude to their elders, disobedient, gobbled up dainties at the table, took wine to excess, consorted with publicans and harlots, etc. Will try to find it.
The Romans kept things in check by giving parents the legal right to kill their own children- even as adults.

Or maybe these horrible kids. It's a disaster, today's youth culture:

Today's culture is so poisonous that your only hope is to literally create (or plug into) another culture entirely – a subculture. The best solution I know of for accomplishing this is to homeschool your children, and network with other like-minded parents in your area. I believe homeschooling today represents the single most important and promising avenue for the true rebirth of American Judeo-Christian culture. In families where children are raised with real understanding and insight, and protected from the insanity of the popular culture until they're big enough and strong enough in their convictions to go out in the world and kick butt in the name of righteousness – the real America is now being reborn. May it grow.

Something like 1 out of 50 kids are being homeschooled today, and they're excelling. A lot of these kids are going to be in leadership positions at all levels of our society 30 years from now.

OK, then. Which set of pictures do you think represents a higher percentage of our youth? I know the answer to that question. Do you?

I have a 19 y/0 son who is one of the strongest Christians I know!!!He has the Last Supper tattooed across his back, Christ's head on his chest and Praying Hands on his scapula. Am I happy that he is tattooed? Not particularly, but it has become an effective witnessing tool. When he takes his shirt off in his dorm, people ask him about them and he has a chance to talk about his faith! God can use anyone!!!
After the Bush election, my son also proudly wore his Bush/ Cheney t shirt into his SOCIOLOGY class at UMASS!!!
Never judge a book by its cover!!!

And as for good kids or bad kids, we have both.

It seems to me personally that some are possibly worse than previous generations. A great many are totally directionless in life, and especially when it comes to black males, an entire generation has largely been wasted on the altars of liberalism and foolishness.

On the other hand, the emerging generation, while many of them may look stranger perhaps than ever before, seem to be in a number of ways more conservative than their college professors.

All in all, I'm somewhat optimistic.

What are you going to do when adults, or atleast they try to pretend they are have no problem with this crap?

They're ON FR! In the next breathe they'll claim they're superior to liberals and blame all the problems on them?

They prefer selective hypocrisy.

Come see the selective hypocrites:

The Ten COmmandments R.I.P.

(It's a satire however for some it is how they conduct themselves. Again, they really believe they are "conservatives".)

I grew up in the 70s and early 80s, and my sense is that it's much easier to be a geek now than it was then.

On the other hand, some of the innocent pranks and chemical experiments we conducted would probably cause the police and social workers to get involved if done today.

Young people today seem more worldly, more tolerant, less sheltered, and more respectful of legitimate authority than we were growing up. JMHO.

Actually, I do not judge a book by it's cover.

For me...actions speak louder than words. I recently hired a kid (Adam) who has more freaking hardware screwed into his head than the "nut's and bolts" aisle at Home Depot. He's turned out to be a hellava worker and the only problem so far is that I'm afraid he's gonna arc-out on the welding bench if he's not careful. I tell him that constant and repeated exposure to the high amperage welding equipment I'm training him on could possibly result in his cranial adornments becoming somewhat magnetized. I told him I am not to be held responsible in the event that this occurs.

I've got more than a few tattoo's myself.

So I can't see where this author is coming from

You are correct that on one hand immorality topped out at about 1990, and that since then America has sense been getting more and more socially conservative. But social movements are not monolithic. So while drug use and promiscuity is on the decline, the homosexual agenda is continuing full force (and I say this as an ex-social liberal) with kids being encouraged to experiment with bisexuality, and girls expected to put on same-sex displays for boys.

The whole reason we turned the corner the sexual revolution is because people took the self-destructive effects of sexual liberation seriously and worked to change. We need to continue that.

"Today's youth rebellion is not only against failing parents, but against the entire adult society – against the children of the 1960s cultural revolution who grew up to become their parents."

You can see that easily on FR.

It's not hard to understand WHY kids HATE their parents. Think these parents will change? Hell, no! They're as blind as bats and continue doing what kids and other real adults despise.

Scouts rule!!

We have three teenagers being raised Eastern Orthodox who love God and country, and all three are very involved in Scouting. My oldest daughter, 17, is a volunteer working at camp this very weekend in fact.

My 15 year old son just made Star. My 14 year old son is Second Class. All homeschooled and none of them the least interested in either tattoos or rings.

We have a 12 year old coming up on their heels whom I expect to be no different from her older siblings.

Was it worth it to drive paid-off cars and not wear the most fashionable clothes, skip those cruises? You bet!

I dunno. I was a band and science geek in High School in the early 60s. It wasn't that tough. You just had to know who you were and find your friends for your self.

My point, I guess, is that there is a huge majority of kids who are not part of what this article describes. They're going to school, getting ready for college, and generally doing what kids do as they grow up.

Yeah, they're fooling around with sex and substances, but I remember quite well a lot of the same thing going on in the early 1960s. The sex was the same, but the substances were different, I suppose.

Today's kids are going to school, going to college, getting jobs, and generally doing the same as they've always done.

Go to your local high school, is my advice to those who think otherwise. Volunteer there and see if you don't agree. For every tatooed, pierced kid there are 25 kids who are just being kids, getting through high school, and getting ready for their lives.

I'm just damn tired of people taking a tiny minority of our kids and making it appear that's how all kids are. I don't see it around me, and I'm out there.

Some kids are creeps. Some kids were creeps when I was a kid, too. Most kids are doing things we all did, or wanted to do, though. They're fooling around with stuff we all wish they didn't. But so did we.

The set of photos posted by another poster are mostly of people in their 30s and later. They're not of kids.

All that just to get to the only right way to bring up a child is to homeschool. That was 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll continue to send mine to our pretty darned good public school.

If you want to see just how we got to this juncture, Roger Kimball's "The Long March" is a fine book with which to start, or perhaps Paul Johnson's "Intellectuals." In dealing with young Americans, I find that they've been, for the most part, effeminized to the point of mindlessness. In dealing with adult Gimmicrats, I hear only bumper sticker logic. I would give examples, but Freepers are all to familiar with the idiocy of the American public.
