But Porter, who worked at a Kansas City packaging plant before his arrest, said repeatedly that he would not cut any deals with prosecutors. For whatever reason, this sentence caught my eye. An awful thought flew through my head--think about it a minute.

Interesting article on many levels. The least of which is being able to listen to a convicted felons phone calls. The poor writing of a major paper is another.

That sentence caught my eye too but I didn't want to think about it.

All the defense lawyers I know visit the client in prison. You expect the calls to be monitored.

He kidnapped his children, and may have killed them...and you have a problem with listening to his jail house phone conversations.
It's your attitude that is scarry to me.

Just a guess, but any information garnered from listening to an attorney/client call would be inadmissible in court.

I can play the game, too, he said. Ill be happy in jail. I hope not to be around to find out how happy he is in hell.

They don't quite control the climate like they do in jail.

Too bad they can't do a prison swap with California and put him in a cell with Charlie Manson.

Mike Sanders the Jackson Co. Prosecutor and Todd Graves the US Attorney have been very coercive to get this guy to talk. He got maxed out in federal court when they charged him with some firearms violation. Basically they said they would go lighter if he coughed up those poor children. I fear for the worst for those poor children.

This is really scary. This paper complains about the Govenment listening in to terrorist is wrong but we can listen in to phone conversations if we want.......<<<<<<<
Please! Every person in jail/prison knows their calls are monitored, and the only expectation of privacy is communication with the inmate's attorney.

I would think so too but I bet not to many defense lawyers would want to chance it.
