Just more fuel for the fire...
I am more furious with the State Dept every minute..
The West hasn't even begun to pull out all it's 21st century fighting capability. If and when it does, they'll be a helluva lot of collateral damage, too. But then again, that might be expected given these cowards hide behind women and children...If it sparks up, the West better be ready to start transferring these barbarians back to where they came from, because this ain't gonna end with them in your backyard. Back to North Africa, the Middle East and Southern Asia and seal the borders. They'll never assimilate because they're religion tells them they can't; the infidels are to be subjugated and that's about it. You can't reason with people hell bent on enslaving or killing anyone who doesn't agree with them. Kill 'em or ship 'em home, I can't think of any other sane alternative. What a shame.
Ditto that, SE Mom. And imagine for one second how the countries who did have the guts (for once) to show solidarity with the media and their freedom of speech must feel hearing that OUR state department issues that press release. Just crap.

I don't know what the civilized world is waiting for. The longer we snooze, the worse will be.

Right Wing Nuthouse calls it more of an example of laziness and poor writing ability on the media's part. For instance he says:
So just where did the State Department get it wrong? They stand up for free speech. They recognize that the cartoons offended Muslims. They tell the idiots in the Middle East to look to their own portrayals of Jews and Christians before going off half cocked about the Mohamed cartoons. And they call upon everyone to settle down.
But all we got from press reports was the fact that the State Department seems to be condemning the Danes and other European publications for running the offending cartoons and an obligatory nod to the First Amendment.
Also on this Little Green Footballs link Charles posts the transcript from the actual briefing of Scott McCormack at State Dept. He gives a MUCH fuller explanation to the State Dept's stance on the situation with Denmark than was initially reported by the press. AND, btw, reported word for word by three different reporters.
Hold on--lemme get the popcorn and beer....

Thank you so much, txrangerette, for making sure that people know this. I spent so much of today needlessly angry at the State Department and should have known better. The media will lie whenever they can to support Democrats, and the lie they told today did just that.
Aren't they a piece of work? Thanks for clarifying things. Because here on Free Republic we have a bunch of kneejerkers who will never believe positive conservative news about President Bush but will always believe any slanted MSM story that is negative about the President's conservativism.
Some people are never happy unless they can complain :-)
