Riiight. That's why we had to go back 12 years later. Saddam declared victory the minute we turned our back. I'm not saying we lost that war, but if we won it was a pyrrhic victory at best.

And that was the military's fault in what way?
If your point was that the original poster (#2) was wrong in his point, claiming that GW#1 was fought for the wrong goal does not equate to claiming the people who actually fought that particular fight did so in an inept manner.

Ahhh... that's the problem. I never intended to demean the military. I demean the leftist fifth column that wants us to lose wars with no reservation. I have only slightly less contempt for the PC politicians who kow-tow to the media and the murtha wing of the congress and get our people killed with their prancing, posturing, and pontificating.

I do think is point is inaccurate in view of history. Abraham Lincoln got taken apart in the press for the casualties Gen Grant took at Cold Harbor and other battles. However, in our next war, The Spanish American War, we took more casualties from poor force protection measures than we did from enemy gunfire.

Utter nonsense. We've won four straight, and never lost a single battle in Vietnam. But go ahead, tell the Korean vets that we didn't win that one, when the commies had the whole peninsula, plus a backup army of THREE MILLION, and still couldn't hold their gains.
