Lifeboats carrying people have been spotted on the sea near where the ship, the "Salaam 98," was last seen on the radar screens, maritime officials said.

......... not good.

We should ask Ray Nagin.

Good answer. It's not like bad things don't happen to people who aren't Muslim.

Trials are a part of life, no matter who you are.

lloyds of london guy on cnn says the ship is an old piece of junk and that this type of ship likes to capsize, and that the outlook is grim. He says only 3-4 people have been spotten on a lifeboat.

It's a ferry boat, not a cruise ship.

Subject Ferry ; Al Salam 89:

Celebrity Cruiseliner; Mercury

I don't know-this is all very wierd. I have not heard anything about a distress signal. If a collision happened, it normally only takes seconds to send a distress signal.

Perhaps the ship did send a distress signal, we just have not heard about it yet.

This does not look good for the passengers. I pray for their safety.

There's bad weather around a lot of the Middle East today.

Someone said it's dur to a cyclone in the Indian Ocean, but that hasn't been substantiated.
