No, the story is about some guy who went on a rampage in a gay bar and various other places, not about an LEO killing a female.

You, just believe the LEO killed the female at the end of the above story.

As I said, good for you, and that story does not interest me.

Now, if they write a story about an LEO killing a female, ping me, I'm usually interested in those. Bad LEO's give the rest of us LEO's a bad rep and I'm interested in seeing them go to jail.

Actually, most do.

Code of silence and all that.

Another television myth.

Another thing, if you are federal you can not pursue any crime without approval from higher up. Fact or fiction, you tell me.

Fact.

Each Agency is restricted to that Agencies job, but some agencies do have cross jurisdictional mandates.

As an example; ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) does not investigate weapons / explosive cases. That jurisdiction belongs to DEA. But, if the investigation involves non citizens, then ICE would also have jurisdiction. At this point, the agencies would form a joint task force for that investigation.

Also, officers within an agency are restricted to their job duties.

As an example; CBP (Customs and Border Protection) has two LEO branches. CBP Border Patrol Agents and CBP Officers (me). The CBP BPA’s patrol the area between the Ports of Entry and the interior of the US, while the CBPO’s run the Ports of Entry. Both are armed LEO’s and both enforce many of the same laws, but they are not interchangeable.

The CBP BPA can not work at a POE and the CBPO can not patrol the border.

And if you saw something suspicious, you would have to call for authorization to act, correct?

That would depend on what I see (felony vs misdemeanor) and what I'm doing when I see it (on duty or off duty).

fact is you are only a pawn to others, waiting on their orders and what they know but will not tell you. Either kill em , arrest them, or let them pass.

No, I'm telling you that I'm charged with enforcing a set of laws and I don't need a higher up to tell how to do that and getting permission from a higher up is not required in most cases.

Now I'm wondering if Fox hasn't threatened to withhold oil from us or raise the price, if the US govt puts its foot down.

Just saw a link earlier today that broke down how much oil we get from various sources, pretty sure Mexico is 10%.

We probably can't get away with jeopardizing that right now. Just speculation on my part though.

But you still have to ask to make sure you didn't nab the wrong person right?

Immigration policy is Bush's most glaring flaw, and I absolutely cannot figure out why he shows zero concern about our borders. It's bizarre, and I fully expect the Democratic nominee (aka Hillary) to pound away on it. If the leading GOP contenders are smart, they'd start pounding it themselves early and often, before she has a chance to take the issue. Remember, she has an advantage: She can take the perfect sounding position on every issue under the sun, since in her mind it's perfectly acceptable to say what sounds good even if it has zero connection to reality.
