Bush's SOTU was clearly designed to smoke out the liberals from behind their masks and camouflage.

Considering that Reid was cheering that "we killed the Patriot Act" not too long ago, it didn't take much bait.

I can already picture the 2006 campaign ads with the Rats cheering a failure to protect Social Security. Accompany that with Reid saying "We killed the Patriot Act". Also, the dems sitting silently rather than support the war. Yeah, it could be a great campaign season.

Surely, at the State of the Union address the Democratic Party provided such a (negative, defining) moment when, as has already been well commented on by others, they wildly applauded President Bush's statement that Congress failed to pass Social Security reform last yearDefining moments exist only for those who know what's going on, not for those whose dislike/distrust/hatred for GWB interrupts their thought processes.

Claiming credit for sinking the Patriot Act... cheering the obstruction of SS Reform... these are acts of supreme idiocy. Not even Karl Rove could have schemed up such a perfect storm for our jackass socialists.
If used properly and combined with an aggressive plan for deportation of illegals/sealed borders... they could be the final nails in the 'stinkin Dem coffin.

THe Democrat Party just could be responsible, along with their co-conspirators in the maim-stream media, of bankrupting this country and leaving a gaping wound open for the Islamo-Facists to try and destroy it. That's reality folks...There are enough registered voters and maim-stream media zombies out there for this to happen. I hate to be negative about this but I see it each and every day.

"I'd say closer to 30%."
You are right on the mark. In the early 70s I began closely watching the left wing and the underground press (that quaint sounding relic that evolved into mainstream media), primarily due to their anti war efforts, and my professional interests. That beginning piqued my interest enough to have taken notice of issues oriented public attitudes and in some ways quantify them. This was not scientific, however, it has been my observations over these past thirty five years that on hard idealogical issues, there is somewhere on average, 27-28% of the public who are activists on the left. They do not falter in their feelings, and they are the exclusive property of the democrats. From that base, the democrats have to cobble together either pluralities or majorities any way they can, which explains their accommodations to every kook cause in America.
The republican party is winning because there is a better informed base who basically are the traditionalists and producers in society.
Sadly, those 27-28 percent represent the majority of educators, writers, artists, news gatherers and dispensers, who call themselves journalists, and people who have depended on television for their sole source of information.
This obviously is just my opinion, based upon personal observation and professional experience. My tagline is also opinion.

Under the leadership of the Party, under the banner of Marxism-Leninism the Democrats have built socialism.

So many great lines in this article--
"the party of reactionary inertia"
"demonstrated a flawless, intuitive sense of its new, disfunctional self."
"Deformed by hatred of the current president, the Democrats have become a nihilist party."
Thanks, Jim. This one's a keeper.

What is good for America is bad for the Democratic; what is bad for America is good for the Democrats........it really is that simple.

Not much I can add to your observation. Fortunately, in some places, the percentage seems to be lower, but in others, it is spectacularly high. I would estimate the number to be as high as 70% in places like San Francisco, which long ago jumped the shark as a city that reflected any manner or sort of mainstream beliefs. 35 or 40 years ago, the number would've been closer to the 30% mark. If the country ever reaches 50% (and we know the radical left would simply prefer to destroy the country as a viable entity than lose control), we're going to have another civil war.
