The only similarity I see to Lincoln, is Tom McClintock.
What's so evil about the Lincoln Club? I'm from the Beserkly region so just about anyone else looks sane to me.
Good answer.
I'm trying to muster up a care....
As to Tom's principles and his attachment to them... they went all wobbly with the gaming gang of wild Indians in the Recall and they're going all wobbly in just the last few days under intense pressure from the putrid Party Hacks that don't give one dang hoot about anybody's principles... EVER!!!
We really need to find ways to support righteous conservative candidates without depending on the Party of the Republicans. It's a lot like America depending so heavily on foreign oil!!! (or even the UN)
Poppy cock, DICC.
I'd vote for Tom over anyone.
Thank goodness he doesn't have bawls like yours.
Why darlin, yer just a regular little wordsmith, ain'tcha? (grimace!)
Larned it frum you, Poppy.
Wull I ain't had no learnin, nohow!!!
Care to list those bills ?
Hating republicans because you think they are too liberal does qualify you for my CONSERVATIVE MOONBAT OF THE YEAR AWARD.
What you said. :)
Hey turkey stayedtruth... Nobody but YOU said anything about hating anything, or any body!!! Just stuff it!!!
Well... as you can see... not all agree!!! (which strengthens my belief in what we agree upon)
"he has vetoed many Republican bills and bills benefiting the many small businesses and consumers who donated heavily to him
Care to list those bills ?"
There is one in particular that cooked my Goose. Our small business organization gave his campaign 50k of very hard earned $$ from our shallow pockets. We are small group insurance agents whose incomes average about 35k a year (per Monster.com). In return, we were able to explain in detail to his staff the benefits of low cost of Health Savings Accounts, and how they were saving California families at least $200 to $300 per month, while dramatically lowering healthcare costs and improving acess to services. In addition, studies showed that they mostly benefit the sick and older folks, who generally save more in premiums on them. His staff, mostly Republicans, fully understood this and promised their full support for our tiny effort at reform to help our customers.
It was a Republican sponsored bill with broad bipartisan support and it didn't cost much, while it helped thousands of people to help themselves in lowering healthcare premium costs.
He vetoed the bill allowing contributions to be state tax free. CA is one of the very few states that continues to apply state tax these IRA style contributions. You have to add them back into your income after taking the fed. tax deduction.
My understanding is that this is hardly an isolated example. We learned our lesson, as I'm sure many others have. DON'T waste your money on this Gov. and his schemes, since he simply does not care unless the crowds say he should.
This Gov. is off the reservation, thinking that people are just stupid enough to give him their hard won dollars for nothing. He appears to have contept for groups of people who care to lobby for simple, balanced, conservative principles that actually improve peoples lives.
Freepers on this topic don't hate Republicans.
Two things are disliked about California Republican partisans:
1) They're oblivious to conservative principles. Pragmatism and expediency are their game.
2) They presume that FreeRepublic is a partisan, Republican forum:
Hosting partisan California Republicans, who come to the California Topic to blindly support the CRP, fast becoming one of the most corrupt political organizations in California, is beginning to test the patience of Freepers.
I asked you to name a bill because I could not think of any. My understanding is that this is very much an isolated example. It is also my understanding that CA tax rates vary from zero to 10 percent in a very "progessive" manner. So your tax saving would have been zero to 10 percent of 2700 dollars per year or 270 dollars for the top end earners.
