Lars whipped Jason really good on Friday. Jason has a lot to make up for on immigration.

Not true - I'd take Zell Miller over Lincoln Chafee any day.
I'd vote for Zell over any RINO and Chafee every time. I wrote him and told him so as well! Actually I asked him to run in 08. I think he would bring honor back to the Dims and frankly a HEALTHY 2 party system is GOOD for the country. By no stretch of the imagination can you say that the Dim party is healthy. But alas, he said no. He wants to be with his family.

It's hard to believe Jason is only 35 years old. I first met him in 2000 when he was running for his current senate position. I initially was a supporter for his opponent in the primaries (Pat Fahey) but switched my support to Jason after meeting him. He would make an excellent Gov.

The reason Mannix was hated by the other Dems was because of his authoritarian tough on crime stance. He left the party and joined the GOP only after the 1994 Republican takeover.
Now, Mannix has been popular in the GOP and has even become the state party leader, but a lot of us don't think it was smart of the party to embrace him so wholeheartedly.
In the legislature time and again Mannix has earned the reputation of a tax & spend big government Democrat, whether or not he is reported as such in the media. And his authoritarian stance is demonstrated in his record as well.
Both of those things are kind on un-Republican if you ask me. And in spite of the fact that he helped carry our shall issue through the legislature as a Democrat (before the movement that brought about shall issue in places like Texas and Florida), he carried with it the provision for background checks & waiting periods that are the model for the Brady Bill, and at the end of the day he is more anti gun than our present Dem Gov Kulongoski.
In other words, he's a RINO driven only by a lust for power, and in my opinion, electing him would deliver us our own little Hitler.

Any Republican beats any Democrat. I'm sure beyond any doubt that there are few exceptions to that. Yeah right. There are darn plenty of exceptions to that, and right here in Oregon we have our share. Mannix is one of them. Since the Republican takeover that started in '94 and delivered us a full Republican legislature in '96, we have seen the biggest increases in state spending in Oregon history, and those successive legislatures have dug us into a hole that seemingly has no escape.
Oregon is not at war and our state issues have absolutely nothing to do with the national ones, where Republican control is essential to deliver on the important national security issues. So to heck with party unity. As far as I'm concerned, voting for a proven RINO is no different than voting for a Democrat. I have wasted enough votes on such bozos and I am done with them. A candidate who does not pledge to CUT spending and SHRINK government will not get my vote. At the state level, we need nothing less than that at this time and I will support nothing less, and if no so-called Republican has the cajones to stand up and say what needs to be said, they won't get my vote. I know Mannix won't be on the right side, probably not Saxton either. What Atkinson really stands for remains to be seen.

And yes when I say cut I mean CUT, not just a slowdown in increases. And that includes public schools.
