The over exposure reminds me a bit of a Rammy '01
Very enjoyable read. Thanks for posting.
...Haven't followed football much for the past few years, but there was a great analytical article in today's paper about their lack of a running game the past several games.
If Seattle sees they're still "off" in this respect, they'll be toast by halftime.
This is my local paper and the sports page writers are usually lousy. This article surprised me.
OH ,ye of little faith.
I thought they renamed Washington, PA "Steeler, PA" a few days ago:-)
As a result, players such as Chad Brown, Leon Searcy, and Mike Vrabel were among many who were allowed to leave when their original rookie contracts ran out.
Not so, they tend not to keep guys that intend to break the bank or guys that are lockerroom distractions.
Chad Brown's wife wanted him to leave dirty old Pittsburgh for trendy, sushi laden Seattle. Leon Searcy wasn't as good as his press clippings and made a boat load of money, but was never heard from again when he left for Jacksonville. Vrabel was not half the player he is now. He toiled on special teams even though he seemed to be a Cowher favorite for years. He was given ample opportunity to break into the starting line up. He moved on to New England and became a star. Good for him and them.
Others were cancerous in the locker room (Eric Green) didn't pull their weight (Brenson Buckner) or were long in the tooth (Kevin Greene, Greg Lloyd, Rod Woodson).

The press is the worst at jumping on the bandwagon. I'm a Steelers fan for about 35 years. It was very satisfying watching them get to this point, ignoring the media nay-sayers talking out their south hole. Now most of the talking heads and print jerks love 'em to death.
I'd be very surprised if the Steelers didn't keep their edge for next Sunday. I don't think the players have any new gratification since the chattering nitwits all of the sudden think that they're the best team in the NFL. The Steelers believed it when they weren't being told that.
One thing I admire about Dan Rooney is that he's a real "football man", not just some rich owner who likes glitzy toys.
For a small market team with an incredible national fan base, the Rooney philosophy is hard to second guess.
It's truly a contrast between styles - both the football teams and the cities. Seattle is the home of most things liberal. Go Steelers!
Counting this one, the Steelers will win 4-5 Superbowls in the next decade. Ignore your feelings.

(Go Prexies!)
Another article today in the O-R was about how the high school had changed it's name to the Steeler little Prexies and lost at home Friday to Burgettstown after blowing a 15 point lead. The coach consoled the team by saying "The Steelers do better on the road"! :)
