Would he run as an independent if he can't get the Republican nomination?

Of course, if he can raise the $ from Soros and the Democrats so he can assure a victory for them. They won't give him the $ if they think they don't need a 3-way race.

Nonsense. McCain is a media darling, and he would remain so right up to the moment he were to have the Republican nomination for president. Were he to become (Heaven forefend) the nominee, he would, in the eyes of journalism, at that moment become the village idiot.

To say nothing of the fact that in that same instantthe Keating Five scandal would be resurrected as the only significant aspect of John McCain's political career.
