I don't either..but McCain basked in the attention he got from the media while they explored the possibility of his running with Kerry.
He also loves the media attention he gets from criticizing the Bush Administration..

Don't say that about Obama....I read some stuff after the DNC Convention that said that he is WAY left...but he doesn't wear it on his sleeve like a Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton...

He is dangerous. Hillary can't win a majority, but what if he got in the picture as a running mate or the next Ross Perot (The Clinton stooge of 1992 and 1996). He could make Hillary president.

Oh yeah, Obama is WAY left; That wasn't my point....
Even though he was well-spoken at the 2004 Dim Convention... In fact, the best speaker they had... But if you listened closely he was spouting Marx (and a little bit of subtle Jesse Jackson racism) in between his pretty words.
Nonetheless, I have a feeling EVEN HE would be less of a disaster than either McCain or Hillary.

Let's pray that we don't have to make THAT choice...

If every Republican would let it be known that they wouldn't vote for him no matter what, he will just give up.
He can't run without party backing, and I don't think demonrats will fund him.
They would be happy for him to run as a IND. spoiler, but they wont pay for all of it.
Perot had his own money, McCain doesn't.

Maybe in the future...and if more people made it known...
but, I have seen articles where he has claimed that he doesn't NEED the right wing of the Republican party to win.

Now might be the time to think about raising enough $$ to pay for full page ads in both the AZ.Republic and in newspapers in areas heavily populated with AZ. Native American populations who vote enmasse for McCain and who are conveniently exempt from McCain's CFR donation rules. A scathing, well sourced expose published in the Sunday papers before the Primary election could be the ticket to shake AZ. voters out of their political ignorance/slumber. I'd donate the first $100. if a groundswell of interest in this develops.

I wouldn't know if he was brainwashed, but ever since I heard that he was the only POW to be repatriated with a weight gain rather than a loss of weight, I have never trusted anything he says.
I think it is also true that his first wife was seriously ill when he divorced her to join the large beer firm in his home state.
My third reason for never considering him to be trustworthy was his wimpy don't blame me when he was snagged with the Keating Five.
He just reminds me of Clinton with a more crooked smile. Of course it's just my instincts, but the integrity of the White House would rapidly deteriorate if he ever got to reside there, regardless of party.

He is probably too arrogant to have any advisors that would tell him that going to Davos and Australian and blasting the POTUS/CIC, during a time of war...
when, said POTUS/CIC is of your own party...
is NOT a good thing...and will make you an unsympathetic character to the American voters..

"McCain said that President is neglecting the Asia-Pacific region as his administration is drawn into the deteriorating war in Iraq, says the senior Republican senator"Whatever disagreements I may have with McCain, I don't believe the report of McCain's quote. McCain is a very strong supporter of the President regarding Iraq and always has been. The report is totally inconsistent with his actions and statements on this issue. I suspect the "deterioriating" characterization is the reporter's. To convince me you'll have to show me the word-for-word quote.

I am with you.

anybody but mccain
but the more he speaks the stupider he sounds, so if you want him to stay in the senate, you should hope he speaks a lot.

Thanks, Txsleuth!
Even sadder that apart from John McCain, Kerry has no friends in the Senate.
