hehe
votes are votes, no matter where they come from.
This Judge needs EVERY R vote so the message shows clear support for our President.
That leaves only Chaffee and Snowe on the GOP side, right?
Right, and look for Snowe to announce her support in the next two days.
And the full Senate vote is Tuesday afternoon?
It's a travesty that such an announcement by a "Republican" should warrant a headline.
Chaffee is a traitorous loser, who only refrained from taking the Jim Jefford route because he saw what happened to Jefford after his 15 minutes were up.
Collins and Snowe are not all that bad. As a rule, they vote with the party when the party really needs their vote, and they vote "no" to please their constituents when the party can do without their vote.
That's what a RINO is supposed to do. We don't need their votes with Alito, but it will be darned nice to have them, because it will help undermine the increasingly feeble liberal pretence that Alito is some sort of extremist kook.
No.

Right, but it's not NEW news. Collins had already stated her intention on Thursday.
Obviously she has her wits about her.
By your assessment, she should also has the ability to do the right thing without fear of losing support.
As an aside, Hillary is leaving "center" for LEFT:
Hil's for filibuster
Takes rebel stand to oppose Alito OK for Supremes
By RICHARD SISK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU
WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Clinton yesterday backed a rebel band of Senate Dems seeking to filibuster a vote on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Samuel Alito.
Democratic leaders had warned that filibuster efforts were going nowhere and would let President Bush score easy political points, but Clinton said, "I oppose his nomination and support efforts to block his confirmation."
"I do not think Judge Alito would advance the principles Americans hold most dear," she said, adding she would vote against a move to cut off a filibuster should one occur.

My mistake, it is Olympia Snow they are blast faxing.
I have no doubt the vote will be successful. Alito belongs on the USSC.
"PORTLAND, Maine --Sen. Susan Collins announced Thursday that she will vote in favor of the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to be the next justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
At least with rats, you always know where they are coming from.
I thought the excerpts I inculded were more important. Also, I hadn't seen any previous postings of this article, so I thought bloggers would appreciate being informed about it.
It's not as if I committed a crime.
No, just stir it up.
Scottish Law requires it.
Pablum for the base! No more.
