Isn't that redundant?

He's a RINO of the first order.

We can hope the people of his state retire this turncoat.

Sen. Lincoln D. Chafee is a 1st term Senator who is up for election this November. If the people of Rhode Island aren't educated enough to vote this idiot out of office then they fall to the same level as the 'progressive thinkers' in the Peoples Republic's of Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine...ect. I guess it will be no huge shock here, when he is reelected anymore than Ted Kennedy being voted in again. You just can't trust these lib idiots.

Only if you think sitting to the right of Ted *hick* Kennedy makes you a republican by default.

You're right, I'm wrong, it was Jeffords. Still there's a lot of similarity, don't you think?

It is not a settled issue

As long as babies are dying at the hands of abortionists, it will NEVER be a settled issue.

>> He faces a conservative challenger in the primary back home. <<

Dream on! Did you not read the article? Laffey is attacking Chafee from the LEFT, mocking him as to whether he would vote with "extremists" who think 12-yr.-old girls should get their parents' permission before having a doctor shove a vacuum up their vaginas.

Another Gang of 14 member on board to help end the filibuster. Does anyone have a list of all gang members committed to stopping the filibuster?

Not that I've seen. None have come out in favor of it. The following, off the top of my head, are against cloture abuse in the context of the Alito nomination:

Graham
Chafee (with this article, but the comment comes from spokesman, not the Senator)
McCain
Byrd (who is FOR the nominee)
Ben Nelson (also FOR the nominee)

There was a rumor that Salazar (in the gang of 14) was going to announce a decision to filibuster. If he does, all hell will break loose.

Rhode Island is a very DEMOCRATIC state. New England still elects pro-life Democrats. When I was living in Boston in the late '90's, the Democratic Senate President was far more reliably conservative than President Bush. And keep in mind this guy rose to power due to the support of only Democrats.

Unfortunately, after Michael Dukakis switched to pro-abortion to run for national office, the Demonrat party began to clamp down on allowing pro-lifers to get open seats.

but chafee would not vote for the nuclear option if the dems do filibuster

Doesn't matter anyway. And for the nuclear option to even becoe playable, there have to be fewer than 60 votes in favor of cloture.

Well said....mega kudos..as someone whose first political experience was as a volunteer in 1964, I swear that if we had the internet, talk radio, and FOX news in 1964, we'd have elected Goldwater

(to be clear, Dukakis had never been pro-life, but had approved of many abortion restrictions.)

He's the idiot son who inherited the Senate seat from his much-smarter and respected father. His idiocy is once again on display. But he dare not support the filibuster, or he's outta there, as far as RI voters go. I am sure of that.

Lincoln Chaffee is a total idiot. How many people does he represent in Rhode Island? Like ten?

The fact that th eladership can exert pressure on him shows that a RINO is better than a democrat.
