That is her entire modus operendi - low blows and cheap shots. She doesn't know any other kind of debate.

That's not true. Go read one of her columns at her site--sure, she uses some jokes and put-downs, but that's only sprinkling on the cake. She does her research.

I'm not her biggest fan, and some of her humor isn't funny, but to say all she does is low-blows isn't honest.

I think she's pretty quick-witted, and sometimes she makes a great point. (Nobody beats Steyn, though.)

In any case, I read this on AP earlier today and the thing that struck me was that she was talking about JP Stevens, the subject was his hanging around on the court in term of his age, and I think her humorous quip was EXACTLY appropriate for the place that she put it. She didn't have to reach for the humor line; she hadn't engaged in a non-sequitur; and she clearly wasn't being serious.

And because she knows she's always got the press nearby, she immediately highlighted what should have been absolutely clear....that it was humor.

She's on solid ground so far as I'm concerned.

What really bothers me about her is all the adulation she gets on FR as being some kind of beauty.

I simply don't see it.
