Did the Senate adjourn for the day or are they just on a break?

Molly Ivins is undergoing chemo for her third bout with breast cancer... Okay, now I feel bad for making fun of her choice in fashion where hats are concerned .....my prayers for her full and speedy recovery.

Kerry must have driven them all crazy...so they went home until Monday...

Did you see the picture of him on Yahoo today? He looked likes he has lost every friend he ever had. I think we are all witnessing the complete split of the a@@ party. There will be the LLL and the moderates. Think Reid is a moderate (when comparing with Err Amerika hosts and callers, and the rantings of the DUmmies).

He left the F word out of it.Well, when it comes, it won't be an announcement that "I think we should fillibuster this nomination" it will all be in code: Rushing to decide, need more time, need more debate, need more answers, need more xyz, so we shouldn't close off debate. Then, when the cloture motion comes to the floor to close off debate, they either vote against it, or - according to the moonbats at DU - just don't show up for the cloture vote to help deny the 60 votes needed.
However, I think that might be even better for us. If cloture doesn't pass, especially by virtue of lots of Dems absent, then we should move to have the presiding officer rule on the constitutionality of requiring cloture for judicial nominees immediately. Cboldt, I'm not sure if it requires 50% of the senators SEATED or 50% of the senators PRESENT to send the question to the president of the senate. What do you think?
I think also the Cheney should definitely show up on Monday afternoon to preside over the senate, just to drive the Dems nuts - Big Time.

It requires 60% of those present to vote for it. If the dems in support of a filibuster don't show they'll guarantee cloture.
Not that I'm confused enough to think that you believe anything these nutjobs say should be seriously considered...

The only thing a DOA filibuster attempt would lack is theme music.
Might I suggest the soundtrack from "Evita"?

If the cloture vote Monday at 4:30 is held and all the gang of 14 (7) Democrats vote present instead of NO on the filibuster will it still require 60 votes to invoke cloture? Yes. Passing the motion requires 60 affirmative votes.

Then I think we can firmly ensconce Kerry into the AirAmerika, DU, Daily KOS...KOOK wing of the Democrat Party...don't you??
To: bigLusr
No, that was changed, I believe back in 1977 - the Byrd amendment. It now requires 3/5 of the senators SEATED and SWORN to cut off debate, not 3/5 of the senators PRESENT. Here's the link to the text of that senate rule.

Have you ever "googled" your posts on FR to find out how many times you have answered that question about how many votes it takes to invoke cloture??? LOL
Chuck54---this is meant as no offense to you...it is just that poor Cboldt gets asked so many questions during a thread...and spends so much time posting links and answers...I think we should dub him the "Answer Man"!!!
To: daisyscarlett
Molly Ivins is undergoing chemo for her third bout with breast cancer... I saw that posted earlier on DU. I can't post over there so I will send a prayer and good wishes from here.
