"National and even regional governments are making increasingly sophisticated efforts to attract offshore services," says Paul Laudicina, head of the Global Business Policy Council at A.T. Kearney Inc.
Please refer to the GATT and the WTO 'trade in services' to see how this was made possible.

The economic and social benefits extend far beyond immediate jobs. India's software industry association, Nasscom, figures that each new worker in the info tech sector creates seven indirect positions, from janitors to security guards.
--Andy Reinhardt, BusinessWeek
The corollary is that 7 indirect jobs are lost in the US, for every tech job that is outsourced.

When I worked in a restaraunt and we had problems with the comp. system, we got directed to a call center in India. If you lucky enough to understand the operator, you generally got the assistance needed. But more often than not, we couldnt understand the operator and problems took weeks to fix.

Looks like you'll be calling Botswana next.

That assumes those jobs would have existed in the US were it not for Indian trade. Big assumption.

The corollary is that 7 indirect jobs are lost in the US, for every tech job that is outsourced. A thing to remember.

I have been getting calls from Indian bill collectors with fake American names, ala, (with a pronounced accent):
"Hello. This is Nick Savage who is calling you about the bill to American Express. With Global Persuasion am I calling. And you will be paying how much AMerican dollars today?"
I've started having fun with them.
parsy, who plays dumb and aurally tortures them.

Free trade creates a level playing field for all the world's workers.Yep. Isn't that sort of the same thing the dems and the traitors to the U.S. say when they give out our nuclear, weapons and intelligence secrets?

Isn't it interesting how these countries are incenting the mastery of English language skills while in the US we place a premium on mastery of diversity and self esteem?!

After such a poor service experience, surely your former employer will find a better comp. System supplier the next time.
