Ya know, I'm beginning to think ABC and the rest of the MSM just might be a bunch of lying liberal scumbags!

View footage from the 2003 ACS National Convention, including a keynote address by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

But that's different. She is a Democrat, you see . . .

Stephen Gillers, a New York University law professor

Gillers is the designated leftist "goto" professor whenever the MSM needs a quote from a supposedly neutral source that bashes Republicans for what is claimed to be unethical behavior. But putting Gillers forward as "a recognized scholar on legal ethics" is a lie by means of omission.

Gillers, who is a left-winger and a die-hard Clinton supporter, once penned a New York Times op-ed piece advocating the selection of Bill Clinton as the Democrat Vice Presidential running mate for John Kerry. The idea that Gillers is or could be an unbiased commentator on Scalia is laughable.

It is clear from the original reporting that Gillers did not even have complete facts about the Scalia trip at the time that Gillers made his pronouncements about it. So, Gillers clearly committed professional misconduct, and ABC News has committed journalistic misconduct. But then, what else would you have expected from either of them?

The whole idea that the Federalist Society is somehow an evil menace to freedom is another example of the ridiculous lengths the dying media will take to skew their propaganda.

When I was in law school (UT '90) it was seen as the ONLY organization that encouraged open scholarly debate/discussion of the important issues of our time.

I see the parallel they drew between this and Mapes.

The article says the Federalist Society had numerous conversations with the producer of this distorted story about Scalia, and that they set the record straight as to the factual situation. The similarity is that Niteline's producer was told the truth and was not interested in it and Mary Mapes refused to accept any testimonials or evidence that was given to her if it did not fit her agenda.

That is the comparison, not that this story received as much attention or that any documents were forged.

"Stephen Gillers, a New York University law professor, ..."

Gillers was trotted out by the MSM at every twist and turn of the Clinton follies. He was a dependable voice for the left wing democrats.

"Yes, but did she play tennis?"

In all three cases, only if there was an underage girl named "Tennis" at the ACS Convention.

Every bit of journalistic bias is comparable to the Mapes/Rather story in the same way that sleep deprivation is torture.

Death to the New Deal - lets roll it all the way back to 1932 and some semblance of the freedoms our grandfathers were duped out of by the march of Marxism.

Thank you for putting that into words, txrangerette. Mr. P needed the computer and I was too rushed to post my thoughts about this piece.

Thank you for taking the time to look up just who Steve Gillers is; that's another dimension of this piece I hadn't thought about.

Yes, they're biased. But they didn't present untruths as fact like Mapes/Rather did.

They put an unethical and biased spin on the facts, and ignored other facts that countered their interpretation of the event.

That is not really comparable to forging documents and outright lying, IMO.
