Having lived through the 1960s I may not have a good base for comparison but right now I am satisfied with the way political things are moving in this country. I guess I will continue to vote Republican for a while longer.

I have yet to really see how this is either a Republican or Democratic scandal.
He gave people money in relatively small amounts as campaign contributions. That's what lobbyists do. Why not pick any given lobbyist and do the same analysis.
He did get caught cheating his customers, but how does this translate into the greatest congressional scandal since Abscam?

Coined that one (lefticide) myself, though I'm sure it's not original. I use it to describe the act of a leftist politically killing themselves or their own kind (eating their own), often by being, as you wrote, "obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices no matter what the facts cleary demonstrate". Yep.
