Thanks. Since this has happened, I have become more aware and heard a lot.

I still haven't heard it as bad as it happened to us. My Dad had 9 kids. One stole more than a million dollars from my aunt and my dad. My own mother who divorced my father helped him (they both profited).

The judge drug the case on for 3 years. (the judge who handled Robert Blake trial.) We got transferred after that to Glendale, and then Pasadena. Ended in less than 3 months after that.

There is NO justice.

This second marriage is patently invalid. Michael Schiavo murdered his first wife on national television.

Sounds like a possible case of undue influence. Do you have a case against any attorney that might have been involved in the theft by either putting someone with a conflict of interest in charge of a person or estate, or by working on whatever deal allowed $900K to be stolen? There might be some action there, malpractice if you or your father's and aunt's estates were the clients or fraud if the attorney was working solely for the brother. Good luck. It might not be over for you.

Gantley, Having just read that Michael Schiavo, co-conspirator along with the state of Florida and others in the murder of his wife Terri, was recently married at a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Fl. I was just wondering if there was anything canonically presented as an obstacle that could have, or should have perhaps prevented this from taking place as a sacrament with the full blessings of the Catholic Church. Am I seeing scandal where there is none? Thank you.

I guess that I am not sufficiently up on current events, and I haven't heard or read about this.

However, I would point out a relevant canon: "Anyone who with a view to entering marriage with a certain person has brought about the death of that person's spouse or of one's own spouse invalidly attempts this marriage. Those who have brought about the death of a spouse by mutual physical or moral cooperation also invalidy attempt a marriage together" (canon 1090).

This impediment is known in canonical circles as crimen (or crime). If the conditions for this canon truly have been met, then the marriage is invalid.
