They were losing. That changed because of Clinton in 1994.

Threads like this always bring out the GOP hating kooks.

Likewise the bootlickers.

"..what has Bush done since the election of '04.."

CAFTA for starters. And it would have been FTAA if we conservatives hadn't gotten in the way.

A few of your points are valid - but the majority simply indicate either liberalism or a lack of knowledge about current events and what has actually happened.

And if you like Tancredo so much, you should at least be able to spell his name, don't you think?

Well, as expected, I see a lot of the usual "We don't suck as much as they do!" rationale.

And, of course, we can anticipate the theme for GOP '08: "Re-elect us; we promise we won't piss away another 14 years. Really. Trust us!"

Not much reason to support Big Stupid Republican Government, is there?

It means that the Republican Party while still the party of conservatives, must be a big-tent party,

You should say "the GOP is still the party of some Conservatives", because this "big-tent" crud is what's getting this country into trouble, whether it's increased power of the govenrment, or increased spending, and many Conservatives are becoming disgusted with it.

I don't know where this idea that the GOP must compromise with the liberals, and/or embrace their beliefs (big-tent party if you must) - I can point to '94 and say it started going downhill, but I don't know how the people, the voters, have let it happen so fast, and continue to let it happen.

It's one thing when you see people my age or older, who know what the GOP used to stand for, getting upset.

It's very telling when my children see how bad things are getting, to the point where they want nothing to do with the GOP, and theGOP since '94 is the only GOP they've voted for - they never voted for a Reagan or any of the previous Conservatives, all they've known is Clinton and Bush and the GOP Congress, and they are bothered by it all.

I always enjoy seeing someone who cannot defend a position, attempt to decide who should and should not be allowed on this site. When Jimrob decides to ban me and others here for not being conservative enough, fine. But I don't need you to try and define conservatism for me. You likely wouldn't know a conservative principle if it up and smacked you in the head.

Take note, the little paragraph you posted from jimrob also includes the term "wackoism". Think about that a bit. It may assist you in future posts. BTW, most conservatives I know can read, write and spell.

From those whom have chosen to try to discredit me, your tripe little digs are cute. They just do not address the issues I have raised.

I believe the word you are searching for is "trite", not "tripe". Also, I did address your concerns and asked what Bush had done since you voted for him in '04 that has you in such a dither? Still waiting....

Withholding your vote from a Republican is the same as giving a vote to a Democrat. Is that what you really want to do?

And voting for Republicans because they might not suck quite as much as democRats says "Ok, you don't have to be conservative - keep doing what you're doing to us. We don't care. You're good enough."

Screw that.

CAFTA for starters.

And specifically, what is it about CAFTA that makes you want a Democrat for the next president?

"Right now, they have lost my cash. If the keep on the current path they might loose my vote. Kinda like tough love, ay?"

They have already lost both my cash and my vote. Now they will have to work to get it back and not work by mouthing words, but by producing results. Concrete hard results.

Nothing else will do

So, you agree with Mr. Hammer's position?

You know, when you mention someone in a post, it is polite to ping them to it.

Good... Besides the War on Terror and perhaps the one tax cut the Republicans are really not different from the DemoRats. What ever happened to the party of Ronald Regan. I will support my local congressman in 2006. His name is John Linder. I believe you can understand why? However, he is probably the only Republican I will support. The party has become too comfortable. They need a shake up....

Fine. Lay out a series of "conservative" principles that 80% of the American people will not vote for, ignore the dramatically changing demographics, and turn the Party into a historical footnote. No thanks.

BTW, Reagan was not afraid to compromise. It's how almost everything gets done today, in politics, international relations, business, labor, and at home.

So the republicas OWN our votes?
They have a RIGHT to expect our support?

Of course not, but that doesn't change the fact that if you didn't vote for Bush in 2004, that gave one more vote up for Kerry.

Nothing or nobody is perfect - it's always the choice of the lesser of two evils. I know which I think is the greater of the two evils!

Your post makes Mr. Hammer's point EXACTLY.

Heck, it makes Harry Belafonte's point too.
