Just a fellow admirer for his philosophy of dealing with Moslem terrorists.

I am aware of how he dealt with them. I think lessons can be taken from his experience.

You surely have better things to do.

You are right, and I'd rather stay on good terms with my conservative Mormon friends.

It's hard because I really like to discuss the LDS history that all my ancestry on all sides were so much a part of.

Methinks you are very thin-skinned if you think Through the Maze (http://www.mazeministry.com/) screams out hatred towards Mormons. Perhaps this one page summary from another site will more palatable.

Someone stole my soma...it's been a weird couple months. Something of note that I think is worth mentioning: did you know that politicians don't tell the truth all the time? What a brave new world!

So they are starting on Mormons? Hmmmm??? Could it be because Mitt Romney is a possible GOP candidate in 2008 and already has a strong showing?

Interesting to say the least and the history channel is so busy trying to prove Lincoln was gay it is disgusting.

I was basically referring to the latest book in relation to the new one.

Is Romney a fulfillment of this Prophecy:

LDS attachment to the Constitution has been further encouraged by an important oral tradition deriving from a statement attributed to Joseph Smith, according to which the Constitution would "hang by a thread" and be rescued, if at all, only with the help of the Saints. Church President John Taylor seemed to go further when he prophesied, "When the people shall have torn to shreds the Constitution of the United States the Elders of Israel will be found holding it up to the nations of the earth and proclaiming liberty and equal rights to all men" (JD 21:8). To defend the principles of the Constitution under circumstances where the "iniquity," or moral decay, of the people has torn it to shreds might well require wisdom at least equal to that of the men raised up to found it. In particular, it would require great insight into the relationship between freedom and virtue in a political embodiment of moral agency. (Encyclopedia of Mormonism, Vol.1, 1992)

Though I honor the notion that Peter stands as the rock of the Catholic faith, considering the amount of space given to Paul's writings in the New Testament, it doesn't seem wholly correct to say that Catholicism is "the religion of Peter," since without Paul there is a good chance that "Christianity" as we know it basically is overcome by the chaos of various sects.

I know it is a small part of the argument you present, but it's something of importance to me.

I do not believe in Mormon prophecy. As a Protestant Christian... my beliefs are much different. The only point being made was there an attack being started due to Mitt running for President in 2008. What better way to attack him would be through his religious beliefs since the G-d haters are running amok lately. Thanks !

I am sure we all like to discuss Church history or any other history. It is when the attacks are disguised as "discussions" and there gets to be a lot of name calling and bitterness that it becomes a pain.

There are several good accounts of the history and they are taught to the High School aged kids so they will know what happened.

We live in Fremont County, Wyoming. The Oregon Trail, Mormon Trail and Pony Express route (Which are the same trail through here.) passes through South Pass, which is in the Southern part of the County.

There are a lot of historical things that took place there.

It is interesting to go and drive over the trail and try to imagine some of the things that took place.

A letter from 1830 indicates Joseph Smith was intimately involved in folk magic and money-digging. It purports that the messenger who delivered the plates to Joseph was a white salamander who guarded the gold plates, rather than the benevolent being associated with the story. Instead, he was a malicious spirit who guarded the treasure.

There are some interesting questions about Joseph Smith's background before he interpreted the gold tablets with the magic glasses.

I have an uncle who goes on rants about Freemasons and Jews and their control of the world. He reads strange books and listens to shortwave radio. Its gotten so bad that we tend to ignore him. I can honestly say I don't even know what exactly a Freemason is. Is it a religion? A club? I assumed it was along the lines of a social organization.

I agree that can happen, so I have better things to do with my time. I want to remain friends with the other conservatives in this nation. (I am sure you are not a Harry Reid Mormon are you?)

I do seriously like to discuss Mormon history, and the always changing Mormon doctrine, but not where it turns personal and nasty. I always have wanted to see the truth of my own ancestry history, good, and bad.

Would love to visit your county. I have two ancestors who were pony express riders. Mine came to Idaho (Fort Lemhi) in 1855.

I don't think Boggs was in the Fancher party...

I had heard he was, but if not, he is dead anyway.
