"They don't need a WalMart with their cheap goods...no..they need to pay more..."
...and be without a job.
We have a distribution center in my area, and it's a great benefit to our community. I can't imagine a politician trying to get them to move it. The voters would vote the politician out first.

"If Walmart simply reduced the salary for these jobs from $12 to $10 an hour, their current health care expenditures would meet the law's requirements."

They'll be called County-line Walmart stores, just like all the beer joints just outside the county where I grew up in South Alabama.

Plans were not final before the bill passed. Doubt seriously they will change them because of it. 4% of $12.50 / hour is only about 50 cents so they could just offset the added costs by offering $12.00 / hour instead.
I believe the workers will be better served with better Health Care benefits and less pay.

Where did you go to school?
4% of $12.00 is only 48 cents. 4% more (of payroll) is what the bill will cost Wal-Mart.
These jobs may now offer $12.00 instead of $12.50 but that would completely cover the added costs. With better Health Coverage it would be worth it.

Health benefits are not a right any more than a job is a right. I do not believe the state should be dictating what benefits a company offers, or if it offers any, to its employees.
