Nope, the picture is no longer there, either.

But you're better at HTML than I am...I have NO idea how to post a picture, do a link, or much of anything else. So don't feel badly about it. I'm sure that your wee one is a darling.

if the unsaved people decide to remain childless, that's all the better.

You're overlooking those of us born to unsaved/non-Christian parents who later got saved ourselves.

I don't see how even by a cursy look around that you can't see how few "white"families have more than 2 children. Forty years ago, in any public gathering there would have been many more large families in evidence. It wasn't called the baby boom for nothing. Twenty years before, during the depression, the birth rate was lower, but the postwar prosperity at first led to the creation of many large families. It was the sexual revolution and the separation of sex from child bearing that led to the drop in the birth rate to a level below that of the depression rate.

I don't think the divorce rate is higher. However, I am starting to believe that the ratio of never been marrieds is much higher amongst FReepers. There are certainly a large number of male freepers who seem to whine constantly that they can't get dates or that women are evil and pick on them.

“We grow up by having children. Without that responsibility, we have a generation of perpetual adolescents just growing old."

Would that were true. If having children brought about maturity and responsibility, I'd be out of a job. Instead, what I see are children beng raised being left to their own devices by perpetual adolescents.

"Are you on welfare? Then you can't afford children."

Good point...I had not thought of that twist.

I am one of those believers that will not subscribe to the state health benefits even though we qualify. I have read and understand the interpretation someone posted once that using the state welfare system for health care violates the commandment with regard to "thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods."

I'm very open in that I consider the "international dating scene" the last resort for absolute losers who lack the ability to attract an American woman. Throw in the occasional misogynist who pops wood at the thought of controling such a woman with threats of deportation if he divorces her, and I think we've described 99.9% of those seeking foriegn brides.

Let's be honest, the whole Russian/Ukranian/Filipino bride market is just a step up from prostitution. If I had to counsel one of my sons seeking to enter this sort of thing, I think I'd sum it up easily for them with, "Son, it's just not the American way." Period.

Now note, this does not apply at all to those men who've met women abroad, fallen in love and later married. That's not the same thing at all.

Please show me Chapter and verse where God
"sanctioned" polygamy.
Not where it was done but where God
approved of it.

"Older couples without kids have always seemed bitter to me."

And sometimes they just have the attitude that they've raised their kids and don't want to have to deal with anybody else's.

Yep - it was more than interesting when my eyes were opened. AND it's certainly easier said than done! I suppose it might have been easier had I GROWN into it - instead of just PLOP - one day I'm there! Laugh...

I honestly thought "How hard can this be?"... SHEESH - I opened offices around the world - yet still can't get down basic closet organization... go figure!

Depends on the person I guess. I was never money minded. I don't care about cars, clothes, big houses or any other status symbol I can think of. Give me a modest house in a modest neighborhood, a klunker to drive, jeans on my rear, a Harley in my garage and a few bicycles to ride, and I'm good to go.

I do however love children. I was a mediocre journalist at best, but I like to think I've been a great father. I finally found something I was truly suited for and I never looked back.

Too many children these days are raised in poverty. You can't deny that. Children DO go hungry in this country. I myself had only 3. I would have loved to have a bigger family, but didn't think I had the financial means to take good care of more so I stopped at 3. If your children are well fed, clothed and cared for (which I feel certain they are!), then you can be very proud of yourself. It ain't easy!

I have a friend who does file organizing and other sorts of organizing (archival) for some of the biggest Fortune 500 companies and she can not keep her own house organized!!!
