Seriously. I love movies, and I'm curious. I don't recognize it.

Condi was never socially conservative enough to be the nominee. And she knows it.

Otis! Thanks.

I did enjoy that show, but a lot of people got the wrong impression of Andy Griffith and even North Carolina from it. Then along comes a goober like this and some folks will get the idea that cousins do marry cousins and are still fighting the civil war in NC.

Yes, but if he did it would have been a double-wide.

Part of cognitive dissonance is rejecting the very idea of exposing yourself to new--and possibly challenging--information.

Shag carpet, a peti-greed coon hound, an El Camino with astro-turf and polyester bib-overalls!

Actually, I'm doing "office hours," which means I sit in my office and discuss any problems or topics my students might bring to me. We've only just begun a new semester, and so there's not really much for them to discuss just now. There's no papers to review or tests to grade. But I'm still required to sit here; it's part of the job. I'll leave pretty soon. I'm on tap to make mushroom ravioli tonight, and that's takes a while.

I really enjoyed the show. I never got that impression of North Carolina. I guess some people will believe anything from TV.

Southern Nationalism isn't quite exactly what I would call "new".

Care to give us the titles of your books? Were they published by reputable publishers or a vanity press? Do you receive residuals by assigning them to your students?

It all depends on "when" you watched the show. When it first started out it was a spin off from an "I Love Lucy" episode. In it's original format it was very hayseed-ish and Andy was the arch-typical yokel. It evolved into a more temperate characterization.

Don't go knocking whitetrashwarehouse.com, it's the hillbilly alternative to Walmart.
