"Brokeback Mountain," once ridiculed as "the gay cowboy movie"
Actually, when the inevitably dismal numbers come in from the movies wider release this weekend, it will be even more widely ridiculed.

The Golden Globe Awards are an only-in-Hollywood tradition. They are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a hard-to-join group composed of a large number of freelancers working for some obscure publications.
In other words, a group of leftists who have already gotten the memo on how they are required to vote.

And the stars sashaying across the red carpet in drop-dead designer duds is reminiscent of the glamour of old Hollywood.
No, in "old" Hollywood, the homosexuals stayed in the closet or they didn't get hired.

"Brokeback's" star, Heath Ledger, who has won rave reviews, is a candidate for best actor, but the competition is tough with Philip Seymour Hoffmann, seemingly the man to beat for his performance as gay novelist Truman Capote in "Capote."
The battle of the faggots.

Homosexual agenda ping. (Hopefully little jeremiah will be back tomorrow, he does a much better job at this!)

The leftist media's perverse desire to turn this homosexual propoganda movie into a "blockbuster" is getting sicker by the day.

Hey, I want to be gay if it'll be popular.

:) HA!

But Hoffmann deserves his nomination. Capote ws a twisted, tragic human being, and that is how Hoffmann played him.

You're not really surprised, are you? This movie is the darling of Hollywood. I was not at all impressed.

"Brokeback Mountain," once ridiculed as "the gay cowboy movie" but now the front-runner in Hollywood's Oscar race

All joking aside, I don't see the need for the "but" conjunction here.

This author seriously thinks that being known for being a gay themed movie makes it anathema to winning once-amazing awards?

My guess is that it didn't take a lot of "acting" on his part to pull that off either.

To put Brokeback into such a high category...indicates the weak state of the movie industry. For 2005...there simply weren't that many quality movies made. It'll be interesting to see if Hollywood will make some kind of gay president movie for 2006.

I know a lot of folks, like me, never watch the self-proclaimed important folks give each other awards, but I do know that a lot of FReepers like to watch the award shows.

My question is given that BrokeBack is the annoited, token movie this awards season, is anybody not going to watch any of the award shows for that reason?

Not necessarily that a "gay" movie is up for awards but for the obvious fact that "the fix is in" for the "gay" movie to get a lot of awards?

Those awards are totally political...nothing to do with good storytelling/filmmaking/acting. They purposefully gave awards to Brokeback, to get viewers interested. Box Office=legitimacy for the gay agenda.

All together now...

They're not gay cowboys. They're SHEEPHERDERS!

Hoffmann is an excellent actor, like Sir John Gielgud. The profession seems to attract strange people. For ordinary people, it is a craft; for others, it fills a hole in their personality.

MIDI - RHINESTONE COWBOY

From Wyoming we've learned something new
About what their cowboys do
When they say "Let's take a ride"...it's something disgusting

They have cute earrings in their ear...the meaning, of course, is clear
It's a sight to behold

Their startled horseys stand there viewing...cattle wonder what they're doing
At night they know how to keep warm...they never get cold

A Wyoming cowboy...with a cute rainbow flag and a nice little lacy shirt
A Wyoming cowboy...if there is no bunkhouse, he'll roll around in the dirt
Be careful, the cacti can hurt

They are certainly not like John Wayne
Their saddles sometimes cause pain
You often can see them sit on their fluffy pillow

When they're breaking for lunch at noon...the radio plays show tunes
Gigi never gets old

Their startled horseys stand there viewing...cattle wonder what they're doing
At night they know how to keep warm...they never get cold

A Wyoming cowboy...with a cute rainbow flag and a nice little lacy shirt
A Wyoming cowboy...if there is no bunkhouse, he'll roll around in the dirt
Be careful, the cacti can hurt

Not sure what channel the Golden Globes will be on, but I will be watching the 2nd half of the season premiere of "24".

I would much rather watch Jack, and Chloe kick butt, than watch some folks praise two guys who like to bu**-never mind, it will get my post deleted.
