"The Bush-Rice bullying of Israel would have me grinding my teeth if I didn't think the pair will have to drink the soup they've been spitting in for so long.

The Palis of every flavor, Hamas, Fatah, Yomama, etcetera have not renounced their goal of Israel's destruction but annealed in it thanks to our leaders' tacit approval.

Saudis use our leaders as dogs to clean scraps under their table."

Look, I'm Jewish and this seems over the top to me. Things have gone off the rails recently. Bush gave Israel more than any US President---renouncing the Palestinian Right of return and acknowleging Israel's right to annex territory. I'm not going to condemn Bush that fast.

In addition, while I post Debka stuff, I am not sure they are correct about what is happening in Gaza (though I suppose other sources have confirmed much of it.) If deadly weapons are indeed flowing into Gaza, so far none have been used.

Sorry....I just now got your post...

I tend to agree with you...and I also have not even come close to the Condi for POTUS bandwagon.

I am just kind of befuddled by her so far....I wish I really knew what her thinking is on the whole Middle East thing.

Please, do me a favor....if you find anything despositive about her and her ME policy, please let me know, OK?

If the Bush Administration had something against Israel we would be arming the Palestinians and Hamas.

THIS IS NOT SATIRE

August 1, 2005

ZOA Criticizes Secretary Of State Rice For Demanding
Israel Give Weapons To Palestinian Authority

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has criticized President Bush’s Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for aggressively demanding that Israel transfer combat-support equipment, weapons and ammunition to the Palestinian Authority (PA) armed forces, while at the same time demanding that Israel “exercise restraint in responding to terror.”

According to a report by Eliel Shahar in the Israeli daily Ma’ariv (Hebrew - July 29, 2005), “During her recent visit, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice aggressively asked Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz that Israel permit the transfer of combat-support equipment to the Palestinian security services. According to a source who participated in the meeting, Rice gave Mofaz a timetable: ‘I want you to give the approved list to our ambassador, Dan Kurtzer, by tomorrow afternoon,’ she announced. Mofaz replied: ‘I need to examine the matter. It may require the approval of the Cabinet. I can’t just approve this on the spot.’ ‘Then I’ll give you two days,’ she answered. ‘I’m the Minister of Defense. I have other things to deal with,’ Mofaz replied. Rice lost her patience. ‘I’m the Secretary of State, and I’m telling you that this is important.’”

ZOA President Morton A. Klein said, “The ZOA is deeply troubled by this perplexing demand that Israel arm the very PA police force that does nothing to stop terror attacks against Israel and even participates in some of these attacks while refusing to arrest these Palestinian Arab killers. Why should Israel arm an enemy who is at war with her. This is beyond comprehension. Not to mention that the Palestinian Arabs have already armed themselves to the teeth due to their constant smuggling of arms from Egypt into Gaza. Israel Radio Arab Affairs Correspondent Avi Yissakharov explained today in a live report that ‘anyone who visits the West Bank cities can readily see that they are flooded with weapons already – what with the heavily armed security forces, paramilitary forces [including forces belonging to or allied with the ruling Fatah] and others on the streets with assault rifles.’ As for the supply of bullets, Yissakharov noted the frequent heavy exchange of gunfire between various groups is a good indication that ammunition is readily available.

“The Rice/Bush position of support for and propping up of Mahmoud Abbas, Chief of the Palestinian Authority (PA) only sends a message to Abbas that he can continue to refuse to dismantle and disarm terrorist groups, arrest the terrorists or end the incitement. This Bush policy is endangering Israel and even harms our U.S. war against terror by sending a message that terror pays.

“If the statements attributed to Rice are incorrect or at odds with President Bush’s policy, the White House must make that clear. An administration that calls itself ‘the best friend Israel ever had’ should not be making such demands.”

This is bad news but the consequences are short-term. Sooner or later the Palestinian areas of Judea and Sumaria (and Jerusalem) are going to explode in bloody and violent civil war.
When that happens, all the campaigning by Hamas will be forgotten.
It is far more important for Israel to be prepared for the coming violence.

Looks like you have more info on this than I do.

If I were Israel, I wouldn't give up one inch of ground to Muslims. Muslims probably care less about the land than they do about exterminating the Jews. IMHO

transfer combat-support equipment, weapons and ammunition to the Palestinian Authority (PA) armed forces

Who is the transferor? Is Rice proposing that Israel have an arms program for the PA? It does seem odd in any event to transfer arms, without a clear understanding as to how they will be used, and with test cases to see how they are used in fact. One doesn't just jump into the pool, one puts one's toe in first, to test the temperature. At least that is the case with those who are not into cold water swimming.

If you don't follow the news from and about Israel closely [can be easily done on FR] you don't believe just how hostile this Administration is to Israel.

The Arms are for the usual perfidious reasons. To strengthen Abbas so he "can fight terror". The eternal State Dept fantasy.

I am still interested in just who should supply arms to the PA? Do you know?

Some ammunition was to be from Israel. That's all I know for certain.

Israel supplied arms, rifles and such, during OSLO.

Might makes right? Who ever has the biggest gun gets to tell the small guy how to run his country?

When did America take over the world and become the worlds dictator? What ever happened to freedom and self determination?

Why does Israel not have the right to expect America to keep its word? Has America become so hypocritical that every one expects them to act like Arabs now?

It's not a good idea to excellerate a foreign policy agenda when a national leader is in a coma.

Sharon's new party is being run by an inexperienced leader and Netanyahu is sitting in the wings in control of Likud.

The situation is very unstable and a rest period is in order.

I think Bush and Rice are calculating that this unstable situation, with Israil transitional politcal power in doubt, allow the US to push the roadmap without internal Israili opposition.

This is very naive. It's an exploding cigar waiting for a match.

The roadmap may be heading for the ditch.

Happy nuevo Christopher Isherwood new year

Actually....allthough he is Family,
I can do without the Euro Utopia and Truman Capote gay club crawl.
He was a talent as a writer,
too bad for him....he should have been born a Roman.
He'd at least have a statue for his efforts : )

Things have gone off the rails recently.

err...recently?

67's tampering is hidden kinda...
although UNSCR occured from that which was the interveneous line being inscerted into the patient with controlled meds until Jerusalem Labotomy.
True signs of run off the rails was 73 when Kissinger rescued the Egyptian army trapped in Sinai from annihilation.

Israel had 175mm Long Tom arty on the road to Damascus then too...and should have been allowed to put the hurt down on the evil Syrians.

About the only time since 56 war that Israel has been allowed to blaze away on the moon children was 1982.
Sharon.....he's like Star trek transposting from Tyre/Sidon beach cafe's...to IDF lines on Beruits hills where M-60's all dressed in way cool Chevrons, tank barrel kill bars and reactive armor boxes pound moon children into dust.
every now and then....a Phantom streaks overhead and a little less of Beiruts skyline is standing.

Islam deserved all of that....and alot more!

Anyhoo....I'm waiting for some IAF pilot to go rogue,
or would that be Ronin : )
bomb Dome of the Rock with deep penetrating muni's,
then do victory rolls over Jerusalem.

I'd have another Kid...even if I was 70....and name it after him.

Until that day.....the IAF will undoubtedly be hitting targets in Gaza,
which will be high order detonations.
not that Israels muni's are'nt vigorous,
but because these will have secondary burn rate rivalling Arc light bombing mission in Vietnam,

from all those weapons and TNT which are not really in Gaza.

Either you lack an understanding of how outfits like Debka deliberately make up or distort news stories to increase readership or promote/plant certain spins (and thus you display a unexplainable naivety for a grown adult on FR) or you are being deliberately dense.
