This doesn't sound like the Army MI trainee guys I met at Fort Huachuca at all. Pretty mellow bunch, always ready with for a drink.
(Full disclosure: I was in the Signal Brigade on Fort "Wegotchya", just had to remember if you were dealing with an MI trainee, especially a female, lie about every detail below the company your in. They would try to get "extra credit by getting info from you.)
The Air Force MI got pretty stupid when they got drunk. I don't know what other Marines thought of MI marines, but the ones I met that were in training rated right up there with the most incredible jerks I've ever been around.

It drew a general laugh.

There have always been 'queers' in the military... they just didn't walk around telling everybody.

Same here.
Back in the mid-70s I had a cook on my boat. A flaming gay, he even dressed in drag for liberty but he was a nice guy and a great cook. He never even hinted at propositioning one of the crew. If anyone had thoughts of assaulting him because he was gay they would have had to take on the entire crew.

Just had to bust your chops. I got a good morning chuckle out of it.

Gotta be careful with the wording on some of these threads.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell promotes ill will by stigmatizing homosexuality, said Steve Ralls, spokesman for the group. Encouraging such soldiers to dress in pink tutus, on the other hand, would lead to a climate of tolerance, brotherhood and love.

Maybe it's my imagination, but the MSM seems to be attacking our Military as a bunch of scum bags since they can't get to President Bush.
This kind of journalism is irresponsible and IMHO not thoroughly investigated. It is another form of sleeping with the enemy.
If they can't get Bush they will pursue any other avenue to bring our Country down.

You disappoint me. You fail to point out he biggest lie perpetuated by this article and all others like it in the MSM (see the gay priest article).
The biggest lie is that one's sexual fantasies, arousal patterns or behavior at a given time define WHO ONE IS. That is outrageous. You are a a man, a human being, a child of God. I am a man, a child of God. This soldier is a child of God. There is no such thing as a "Gay" or "Homosexual." A person may have homosexual feelings at a given point in their life. If they reinforce these feelings through fantasy, masturbation or behavior, such feelings will continue. But these feelings do not define who he is. It is not the "real" him. What an absurd concept.
This is the lie that the media has convinced everyone is the truth. No one, even here on a conservative website questions it. This is the lie that is responsible for the deaths of thousands of young men.
This is what we should be yelling and screaming about.
