I believe, and I've had this experience, that your loved one somehow "speaks" to you with an assurance ... oh, say, during the first two weeks after they pass on.
God is an ever present help in our trouble.

Heartbreaking. Not so much. A last memory. Something to cherish.
I haven't been in a mine in 25 years, but you never forget what it's like down there and how a couple of seconds of inattention can mean the end for you.
Sometimes the crew would ride out on conveyors. We had one boy fall asleep and it tipped him into the silo for the prep plant. It was a place you did not want to be. There were a thousand ways to get hurt or die.
The blessing is that it is a real rare thing in America, these days. You still read about huge loss of life in Asian mines.

"Why didn't I tell you I loved you more often?" This is a good reminder that there will come a day when you can't. I send my wife flowers about once a month ever since my father passed 11 months ago. Incidentally, he was a (surface) coal miner.

Forgot the citation:
"God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble."

milagro, I remember the peanut butter message, and how comforting it was to you...
..thanks for sharing with others.
Hope you are well.

Read the note again....and again.
He says he will see them on the other side.
Clearly he speaks of Heaven.
To: La Enchiladita
That psalm gives such comfort: if you haven't had a chance to read Corrie ten Boom's book, THE HIDING PLACE, treat yourself. It is a powerful testimony to how the Light of the world shines even in the darkest places.
God bless you!
