When Pat Robertson starts quoting Dylan, we'll know he's lost it:

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No." Abe say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61."

"A Christian certainly know the mind of God. It is all laid out in His Word."

how arrogant to presume such knowledge! God can do what He wants, when He wants, regardless of whether it's written in a book or not.

"We know as Christians that a born again Christian is not going to perish to hell but to go to comfort of heaven. It is the family members left behind that grieve and need our support and love. If a family member has been struck by a serious but survivable illness we are there to comfort and support as well. This is the routine of all the churches I have been associated with since I accepted the Lord."

And it's the Christians like you who I respect the most. The ones who spend more time LIVING their faith, rather than preaching down to others.

Pat Robertson isn't "God's man" anymore than I am. And saying he is a self-important @ssh*le isn't a curse, it's just the truth. I leave calling down curses to people like Pat.

"It would be interesting to see how many FReepers would back Robertson if he made the same statements about an American president on his death bed."

Heck, just compare the FReepers who were happily supporting Robertson's "Let's kill Chavez" statement to the comments here (that are now directed towards an ally of the USA).

Then why didn't God strike down Menachem Begin when he gave conquered land back to Egypt, or Netanyahu when he gave over part of Hebron to the Arabs? Why didn't He strike down Moshe Dayan for giving over the Temple Mount to the Arabs in 1967? We don't really know what God is specifically doing or not doing in these situations, and neither does Crazy Pat. 240 posted on 01/05/2006 2:00:17 PM MST by Cecily 2007 will be the fortieth years since Moshe Dyan gave back the Temple Mount to haSatan. Some think that Israel has been in a 40 year wilderness because of it. b'shem Y'shua

Cecily, Why do you think Yitzhak Rabin was slain?

A generation in the Bible is 40 years. That said, look what God did to Belshazzar. He was slain. These Scriptures are taken from the Book of Daniel. Isn't it interesting that Peres is named for dividing up the land, in verse 28. IF Sharon doesn't make it, and Peres is in position, he will divide up the land too.

Earlier in the Book of Daniel, it talks about these things being in the "later days." I'm NOT a Bible scholar, and I don't profess to be, but I have read the Bible several times, and I'm relatively familiar with Scripture. Israel is God's time clock, and EVERYONE needs to keep their eyes on Israel. Whatever happens there will affect the outcome for the rest of the world. In 1948 when Israel was made a nation again, God's clock started ticking again. That's why Evangelical Christians are so supportive of Israel.

This is from Daniel, chapter 5....

18 O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

19 And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

21 And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

23 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

24 Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

25 And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

27 TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

30 ¶ In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

My father always said, "it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
I always wondered where he got that expression, but it is spot on.

I don't see how you came to that conclusion. If you are not a person of faith or just don't believe then yes it would seem very far fetched.

I read my bible alot. I go to church and listen attentively to the sermons. I really try to understand. I firmly believe, but I won't know 100% for sure till I get there, so to speak.

We can compare notes when we get to the other side.

Does the Bible support his argument? I haven't seen a refutation of what he's saying.

I haven't seen a quote where he says what they say he said...just an inference the author derived and was offended by.

At my church (Pentecostal) we gather to comfort the family with prayers and assistance (like preparing food, transportation, and whatever else we can do). We know as Christians that a born again Christian is not going to perish to hell but to go to comfort of heaven. It is the family members left behind that grieve and need our support and love. If a family member has been struck by a serious but survivable illness we are there to comfort and support as well. This is the routine of all the churches I have been associated with since I accepted the Lord.

DING DING DING DING DING DING DING!!!!!

We have a winner! A refreshing reminder here of Christianity in action, and what death truly signifies for a Christian. Well done and well stated.

Rabin was murdered because a fanatic got it into his head that it was his holy duty to kill the PM. Amir killed Rabin, and Oslo continued to roll along. So what was accomplished by Rabin's assassination? Punishment for one man? Why didn't God strike down Bubba for his part in pushing the Oslo plan onto the Israelis, or all of the other Israeli politicians who supported it? You can go crazy with this kind of thinking, and Pat did a long time ago.

If God did something contrary to what was in the Bible, that would make him a liar.

Oh for pete's sakes! Pat, oh pat, when will you stop running your mouth? He may very well be right, but no one knows what God is thinking or what He does so to say you know what God is thinking is pathetic. I feel bad for the man, he seems to think He knows what God is thinking all of the time.

I'm sorry if I read or interpreted you post incorrectly.

There is so much bad press concerning Christians and meanness out there that I always want to respond to ....................

And yes to whoever said it.....there are some mean people in any congregation, but with the exception of Westboro Baptist I really think they are a tiny minority.

Christ said that his followers shall be known by the kindness that they show to each other.

I am from New Orleans so therefore in Pat's world God must really hate me and my family. I bet Pat even says that God hated those West Virgina coal miners and the people in Texas and Oklahoma who have seen their homes go up in flames in recent days.

Nah, God was aiming at Pats competitor Jimmy Swaggert in Baton Rouge. New Orleans was collateral damage.
