I wonder if the coattails of Lynn Swann will be enough to carry Rick Santorum to victory in the PA Senate race???
Great news
The first thing Swann needs to state as a candidate - "Listen up my fellow black brothers - Kwanzaa is not a friggin' holiday. Stop celebrating it NOW."
First we hear that he had no qualifications in leadership, which is what being governor is all about. None, zero, zip, not even the Reagan/Schwarzenegger type leadership.
Then we get the race card.
Then we get his board memberships. HEINZ jumps out immediately.
Makes one wonder about more pockets than the QB's pocket.
"I was wondering what they were talking about at the WVU game..."
or here in GA, the UGA game. Otherwise known as the Sugar Bowl. LOL
Granted, where I'm from is nowhere near Philadelphia, and it is a bad comparison, because municipal races are non-partisan.
However, in 1989, our incumbent Mayor, the man who had previous been chairman of the State Republican Party, actually carried the black vote in the Mayor's race. He lost because of white defections on the city's westside.
Keep in mind, it was a non-partisan election, but we have had several of those elections where blacks vote for a candidate who is Republican (and public about it). Not the same as a race where partisan labels apply, but it's worth something. Also, the Johnny Ford example. Johnny Ford used to be a member of the Alabama Legislature. He was originally elected as a Democrat, but switched parties after Riley was elected. He does not hold his seat in the legislature anymore. He doesn't hold it because about a year ago, he was elected Mayor of Tuskegee (yes, that Tuskegee), a city which is 95% black. Once again, it was a non-partisan race, but still, he was a declared Republican at this point.
Things to think about.
no...he had it right...it WAS the WVU game.
Go Mountaineers!
"He has advocated reducing certain business taxes and said he opposes abortion rights."
Oh, so he "opposes abortion rights". I guess that means he is pro-life, rather than pro-choice.
Can you tell the writer's bias?
We have a black senator?
I believe Obama is the only Black in the Senate...we all know what swamp he stands in.
According to Democrats, I will be voting for Uncle Tom. I liked Ed Rendell as Mayor of Philly, but then again I don't live inside the City.
"Rendell just shyt a serious brick. Swann could turn out to be an empty suit and get his arse kicked, but somehow, I doubt it. I think PA would be his for the taking."
De Debil made him post that!!
( I'll bet some of the FReepers on here will be too young to get that)
Nothing like a good cowgirlz spanking.
sw
"A friend of mine is an African-American Democrat who is very involved in Pennsylvania and New Jersey politics. He is very upset with this news."
Why is that .... because he thinks the Swan candidacy threatens the Democratic party's monopoly of black votes in other races?
