If the RATS had any brains they would realize that it makes more since for Abramoff to pander to them in order to prevent a congressional block or Senate Filibuster than someone who already shares the same philosophical belief on issues.

well sure, on Abramoff's side of the crime (that he plead guilty to) - if he engaged in acts of conspiracy, fraud, and tax evasion - that's his rap. what he does with the money on the other end of the food chain - unless they can show specific promises of votes for cash, its meaningless.

if a drug dealer sends a check to congressman X for $1000 (from a booty of ill gotten gains) - the congressman is guilty of taking drug money? its guilt by association, unless you can show the congressman knew the contribution came from drug operations, or promises some specific vote for that money, where is the crime?

Good post, thought I would repeat it for you!

I just went to DU to see how giddy they were, and scrolled down to the middle of thread to randomly check them out. No kidding, this is the first one I read:

SOS (1000+ posts) Tue Jan-03-06 12:05 PM
87. Re: the whole truth
While today's news is cause for optimism, questions still need answers:

1. Why were 9/11 hijackers, including Mohammed Atta, on Abramoff's SunCruz boat on September 5, 2001?

2. Who ordered and paid for the murder of Gus Boulis?

3. Why did Abramoff work for Saleh Abdullah Kamel (Osama bin Laden's banker) after 9/11? What exactly did Kamel pay for?

Everytime you think you've already got a handle on the insanity that happens over there, they bump it up to a new level.

You want to make lobbying illegal?

Hmm, everybody hates the other sides lobbyist, but cannot live without their own.

So I guess you are Okay with the McPain-Swinegold attack on the first amendment, apparently feeling it did not go far enough.

That pesky first amendment, always getting in the way of total government thought/speech control!

"Those who would give up essential liberties"..........

(SARC, well mostly)

I'm more than a little skeptical, however, that targets of these investigations will come from both sides

Well they may not but AG Gonzales should make it across the board.

" If we no longer have Senatorial elections and revert back to the Statehouses appointing their Senators"

I second the motion. The 17th amendment needs to be repealed and the in order to fix our broken system of checks and balances.

I hate them all. And if they only used words to relay their interests, that'd be one thing. But lobbyists are nothing more than extortionists and bribery experts.

And if you think they play by the rules, you must be five years old.

Just watch, my man. NYT/LAT/WoPo/TRIB..... For the past 5 years they have been screaming at the top of thier collective inkwells, for NUTTIN'!

Will some RINOs get snagged? Well if McCain is one of them I can live with that. Time to clean house anyway.

Relax, it's a whole new year. I prescribe a tasty adult beverage and a deep breath.

I am starting to wonder about the details of his plea agreement.

probably end up milking cows at the Lompoc Federal dairy .. where he can assume the honorary position as the Michael Milken milking chairperson.

"Don't laugh too hard, until we see the pubbies list."

I've watched three news shows tonight and none of them mentioned any Democrats that were in trouble, only Republicans.

McCain's replacement (J.D. Hayworth) is near the top of the list. This was the only way the 'RATS could get him. Pretty disgusting.
