Doesn't the state Senate have to override a veto as well? They only mention the House overriding.

"Rhode Island on Tuesday became the 11th state to legalize medical marijuana and the first since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June that patients who use the drug can still be prosecuted under federal law."
How is someone growing marijuana in their home for personal use a federal issue???!!!
It's unconstitutional.
Here come the phony Conservatives who rant about activist judges... except when they do their bidding.

I'm curious, but don't have the time to do the research, right now. Which Justices voted that medical marijuana was a Federal issue, and which ones voted that it was a State issue?

I dont have the time either but it doesn't matter.
These threads always *always* bring out phony conservatives who love judicial activism when it supports their peculiar agenda... as opposed to constitutional government.

Good for them.
A hot social issue of the day, and the state legislature is the one who ends up deciding it. We need more of that in this country.

I don't remember the breakdown but it was Scalia who wrote that (paraphrasing) that if Congress choosee to regulate a national marketplace for a particular commodity, then Congress has the power to regulate even activities which are neither commerce nor interstate.

. . . .and this is your legislature on drugs. It's a matter of who you believe owns your body.
Either the state owns your body or you/God owns your body. There is no middle ground.

I don't know the whole list, but I recall that Scalia voted that the Commerce Clause authorized Congress to regulate drugs, while Thomas voted against the proposition.
