<< PLANS to erect the Australian flag over the Bondi Beach pavilion were vetoed because of fears the symbols could incite further racial violence on Sydney's beaches. >>

<< Hey, give 'em a break. The Aussies have been on our side for almost a hundred years (including Viet-Nam). They have more guts than the average American when it comes to standing up against Muzzie domination.
They're on our side.
Don't piss off our natural allies... >>
Take more than the mad mutterings of a be'n mugged to piss off an Aussie.
Although neither he nor Australia's three hundred thousand bloody manifestation-of-multiculturalist-madness-inspired islamist immigrants will withstand the assault upon 'em if anyone does piss off enough of them!
Score today? Aussies 99, Islamists zip.
Score one hundred years from today?
You got it: Aussies 9999, Islamists zip.

Just as some music, Hayden, ironically inspired a national anthem, the "Moldau" was also bang on.

""We already fly the flag at Bondi, we proudly fly the flag at Bondi and this decision has absolutely nothing to do with racism or Cronulla."
They already fly a flag at Bondi.
"...it will cost thousands of dollars to perform a heritage study and then erect the poles, which don't exist."
So they aren't actually banning the flag, they vetoed erecting poles to fly flags apparently because of cost restraints.
"Council had first voted against installing the flag in March...To raise it again in December was purely to manipulate the flag and the Cronulla racism issue...He accused Liberal councillors of taking advantage of the race riots to raise the issue of the flag again..."
On the face of it,that's what it looks like to me as well.
Then again..."Community tensions were running high at the time...the no-flag option is a sensible choice."...Maybe there is more to the non-erecting of flag poles than simply cost restraints.
Clear as mud?
Whatever the right take is,I hope it's not simply politicians trying to score points of each other, because a lot of Aussies are going to be mightily pi$$ed off at that headline and that in itself is going to raise tensions.
Bondi Beach is in equal measure to Sydney as their "Coat Hanger" bridge or Times Square to NYC.
I keep three pieces of artwork over my desk; portraits (way too small)of Marines advancing at Tarawa and Chosen. The third object is from a old friend; a small souvenir OZ flag...The Southern Cross.
My first and only view of the real deal (the constellation) was frpm a back-paddie of the Delta south of Saigon. No big deal otherwise.
Happy New Year.
Semper Fi!
I decided to learn something about Waltzing Matilda. From the site:
Why do Australians find Waltzing Matilda so unutterably poignant? I'm not sure, but I think the answer lies deep in the Australian psyche. Waltzing Matilda is very much a nationalist song.
The tramp steals a sheep; he then chooses to die at his own hand for this trifling crime - as though the sheep's life were more valuable than his own. Remember that Australia was colonised by convicts sentenced to "transportation" from England, often for trivial property offences; Australians are still suspicious of authority, and cynical about the pomposity and hypocrisy of the judicial and police systems.
Will attempts to ban the display of their flag help, or will the Aussies just chalk it up to more pomposity and hypocrisy of the judicial and police systems.
Nuts.
By this act, Australia forfeits its sovereignty.
The Aussies are tough that city council is probably composed of pommies or pom wannabes.

*Yeah, I thought about that - it's a round dance.

Just as some music, Hayden, ironically inspired a national anthem, the "Moldau" was also bang on.
*Have you heard the very Hebraic plaintive passage (minor key) in the SPRING movement from Vivaldi's SEASONS?
*Hey, the "Moldau" is the very first classical piece I remember hearing - at age two - and it overwhelmed me then. That might be appropriate "water torture" for a Muslim sensitivity.
Play it loud...proud...and long...
*Play it again, Sam!
Just who are they worried about provoking?
‘fraid they have been trying this kind of BS here for a very long time and I haven’t seen any million man marches yet... Here are just a few examples.
