Anybody have any tsunami info from Nero’s time? Or could it have been from Vesuvius, or much earlier, Thera.
Wait a minute. “Oldest lighthouse?” No way.
Surely the construction of the lighthouse at Alexandria (and others) preceded the time of Nero.
The Pharos was at least a few centuries old when Nero took up the harp, had his mother murdered, etc. Of course, perhaps Nero replaced something older, and the article has an ESL problem.
If destroyed by a tsunami, it could have been the medieval tsunami that resulted (ironically) from the big mudslide that dropped the Pharos, most of Alexandria, and other stuff into the Med.
