I am no expert but 2,000 miles sounds like excessive for a cruse missile. I thought they limited to about 400 miles. I agree. I was basically converting 3000km to 2000 miles. I remember B52s in standoff mode and delivering cruise missiles to Iraq but those, of course, were ours.
The Russian missles are much older and this article came from the Turkish Weekly which, IMO, is suspect.

Looks like recent Iranian rhetoric has struck a chord with certain Eastern European political traditions.

Ukrainian cruise missiles with a range of 3,000 kilometers and capable of carrying nuclear warheads have ended up in Iranian hands after being transported via Russia, Israels Director of Military Intelligence Major General Aharon Zeevi (Farkash) said on Tuesday.
it's the lead sentence in the article.

The article is WRONG! This is an old story, which goes back to when Kuchma was in power. He sold the missiles to Iran without a license to transfrer them.

Absolutely as you say--we have only to look at the consequences to Neville Chamberlain waving his piece of paper bearing the signature of "Herr Hitler. . .as well as my own. . . ."
Had we put out the fire when it was small it would not have engulfed the world.
Now the horde of Lilliputians impede our efforts against the Islamist jihad and its puppetmasters in Moscow and Beijing.

"Firmness is best; the diplofairy minuet is worst."
Instead of "fimness" I might have used "The courage to face reality, to discard illusion, delusion, and willful stupidity" or some such long and florid expression filled with plenty of illusion, delusion, and willful stupidity!!! Eh?
I would say "Islamist jihad and its (insert "would be" here) puppetmasters in Moscow and Beijing."
We can see motive and so must curtail opportunity. No point in full scale nuclear war over a simple misunderstanding.
I am a negotiator, a diplomat, a sweet soul filled with love of my fellow man. Stopping a horrible war takes skilled diplomacy.
The greatest diplomat that comes to mind is Curtis LeMay. Sharon is darned good too. The President is a grand master of the trade. Learn from him nearly every day.
In the spirit of the season I quote Dickens' Tiny Tim: "God bless us, every one." Amen.

Yeah, that 2,000 mile stuff with a three ton 1955 style weapon would take a darned big cruise missile! Something like a passenger or freight carrier sized machine.
Speaking of cruise missiles and very cool American engineering, I must mention Project Pluto.
http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/app4/slam.html
http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/systems/slam.htm
Pluto would just be warming up after 2,000 miles. The machine was to be a nuclear ramjet powered autonomous cruise missile carrying a few dozen very bad days for those deserving. It was to cruise at 35,000 feet at mach 4+ and make penetration runs at less than a thousand feet at mach 3+. 2,000 miles an hour 500 feet up. Fuel for weeks or months. Thrust air went right through the reactor core.
Old Pluto would have redefined diplomacy. Cruising around a country's borders at 3,000 miles per hour, dropping down and making a nice penetration run, maybe for fun, or maybe for one city, maybe for thirty. Flying for a month, two months, and all of that time scaring the guts out of those about to be fried. Diplomacy of a most persuasive sort indeed. One penetration run after another, outrunning any aircraft or missile even today, and when those below start to bet bored toast a half million or two.

Putin is an always has been a snake. Welcome to the real world, in which leaders of great powers, especially ones without the slightest hint of a tradition of ethics or scruple, do whatever they can to make trouble for every other country on earth, to reduce the power of those other countries, and because they can.

"Iran can wipe Israel off the map with their nukes, they can nuke Iraq, just to be spiteful, not to mention Saudi Arabia, destroying the oil supply and throwing the entire world back into the stone ages. They don't need to strike Europe or the US."
Of course, they won't be around long enough to enjoy it.

It was previous corrupt Ukrainian government that Putin tried to steal election for last year that made the deal. Russia is busy selling BILLIONS in arms as well as reactor technology to the mad mullahs.
