Admin Mod, could you fix the headline, please.
Thanks.

Very sad.
No BORDER, no NATION.
Very simple.
That's a sad and powerful story. This is only one ranch on small section of border. The border 2000 miles long.
This article was in a very leftist free newsweekly.
I was suprised to find it.
The other article on the border was about fear, fundamentalism, and fascism and other rather typical lefty loon stuff.
The border patrol gives rides to the mules back to mexico.
I dont think I could put up the the daily BS described in the article.
I read this a while back. It's a long[ish] article, but it's worth reading.
Good read. You don't get much information about the impact of illegal immigration for those who live along the border. Steel doors, bars on windows. Incredible.

Agreed. Time to build a big fence. Preferably electrified. Seems to work just fine for Israel.
I agree it is Mexico's fault, it sucks.
Thank you for the ping. This is what politicians, the MSM, and a handful on FR should see first-hand before they excuse away all illegal aliens as "just seeking work."
No surprise you'd be reading such a publication. Probably enjoying all the Bush hating articles.
That's where the entire nation now is. I know some of this woman's experience and I share her disappointments, but also, her conclusions.
News is news; this is, after all, a bipartisan issue. This particular reporter does a fantastic job of covering the border and has won all sorts of awards, though the far left does send him hate mail.
First hand report from the front lines... ping.
I think it's a mistake to discount and reject this individual's experience and story just because it's in a "leftist" publication (I don't know that it is, I'm taking your word for it, however).
Actually, consider that she's reaching those she needs to by having her story and words appear in a leftist source...more of those responsible for the current problems will read it, at least, hopefully.
If it'd been printed in a conservative source, only those already well familiar with the problem would likely read it.
I AGREE completely with this woman writing to the "mothers" in Mexico (and everywhere else, if they care to read this). And that is, that the U.S. is being inundated by people with problems created in and by their own homelands. They don't abandon the problems by illegally entering the U.S. but are proliferating the very problems here, in the U.S., after arriving here.
The focus has to now include the importance of those people staying in their own homes, wherever, and working to improve and change their own circumstances where they are. By just leaving for the U.S. by whatever means, it is harming everyone, even them.
I guess the President and Laura wouldn't enjoy their ranch in Crawford so much, if it were over run by Mexican invaders. The way our government is failing in its most basic duty...to defend its citizens...is shameful. We are not getting much protection for the trillions in taxes we send in to Washington DC.
