I didn't see it, either. Then again, I don't watch TV very much.
I do know that the evangelicals in this neck of the woods are divided over whether or not this guy is a good thing or not.
Oh I am laughing so hard I'm gonna HURL....BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHAAAAA!!
Aren't we all little hypocritical? remember, there is no socialist utopia.
I don't care. I was posting information about him and his wife. I just remember people giving to Jim Baker thinking he was a "good guy" too. People can spend their money on anything they please. I am free to comment on it.
They have more than one service on Sunday.
I hate to tell you this, Battle, but teaching "word by word" and "literally" would be a huge mistake... let's just say that any translation is a compromise which necessarily changes the meaning of the original. You can't be literal with translated works, you have to take them in context. Additionally, if you don't understand historical context, you won't understand that certain words or customs had vastly different meanings than we would ascribe to them today. Hermeneutics...
As far as what he "supposedly believes", trust me, I could recite these "Statements of Faith" verbatim if I just thought back for a moment...
This thread is about mercilessly lampooning a hypocrite...
not very Christian of me you say?
Well, being a historian I have always favored the ancient Roman outlook on life...in ancient Rome, if something bad happened to a person, it was thought to have been his fault, and would often elicit laughter (a quite bizarre way of seeing things from our point of view, but it kind of explains why thousands could cheer and cackle at the sight of 10,000 criminals being executed in the Arena - just during the Noon-time intermission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are quite right here, BHOTR, but not all of us go through our entire lives PRETENDING that we do not sin....like so many of the "I-wear-Jesus-on-my-lapel" types do....
Regardless of the why's her "nouveau riche" ass was tossed off the plane, they didn't need to hold up the flight, and ruin the flight for all the other passengers just to get their luggage!
Now get thee to a Bible-believing church!!!!!!!!
I do not consider that something to get all uptight about if that is what happened.
I haven't read or heard anything other than this thread, but it is possible the seat may have been still wet and asked to sit down because we will be taking off.
So does Benny Hinn.
LOL
We know the bible was written in hebrew, greek and arameic. Also, we know almost all of the historical context.
Oh, yes. That would make anyone go charging for the cockpit door. I found some empty peanut bags in my magazine pouch, and by God, the Captain heard from me!!
Just did not make the news.
"I like to watch Joel Osteen the same way I like to watch any other interesting inspirational program on television. I think he's very sincere in his desire to help people. I'm not making excuses but just giving my opinion."
I think he's sincere and (from what I've seen) he is not a wealth/success theologian. More "the power of positive thinking" type.
Yes. If I want bible christianity, I go to my own church. I don't think television should replace church.
