Most of the east europe historical stuff is fairly accurate and sorced (pre communism), the demographic stuff comes from the cia world fact book.
I agree. I consult Wikipedia frequently.
I have found it to be quite valuable - especially when I went back to school a few years ago.
Everyone should know not to use it as an exclusive source of information. That goes for almost any source of information.
One area of Wikipedia's bias I became aware of was when I was looking up PCP (the drug). Browsing around the articles on illegal drugs I felt that they were rather "pro" in their content. Definitely gave me the impression that they had been written by an escapee from a hippie commune.
I went back to school, too, and found Wikipedia several years ago. I like it for background info. The subjects I need it for are pretty straight-forward. Tend to be historical and literary. Hard to find stuff by normal human beings. I like the concept and am grateful it's available. After reading this, it just makes me all the more aware that I need to question everything on the internet and the motives behind it. I need to always question that anyway.
Sorry for my late response.
What would you suggest we do if Wiki turns out to be the internet version of the DeathScreamMedia? We can't just sit around and do nothing.
DSM = MSM
It's a word I coined in response to the media's active championing for the murder of Terri Schiavo, abortion, anti-self defense rights, and the rights of terrorists, pedophiles, murderers, and assorted criminals. Of course you won't find it on google. And I'd have you know my mother is a great woman and she took care of me very well. My sister, otoh, is anoter story. :)
