"To think that Steven died trying to save a dog seems crazy. But that is the kind of person he was. He wasn't thinking of himself."He should have been thinking of his fiancee and his child instead of the damn dog.

If a dog is about to die, don't contemplate risking your life to save it. Contemplate buying a new dog.
Same goes for rabbits, mice, squirrels, gerbils, racoons and cats. Although you might not want to replace the cat.

Sad, but the man's an idiot. Giving up one's own life for a dog is simply stupid. Now, his child will be fatherless.

Labradors are excellent dogs. Good call, Steve.

Pregnant fiancee, son from a previous relationship . . . does no one in the UK marry anymore?

You should call R. Kelly to get him out of your closet.

No--it's only partners over there. Wives and husbands have been outlawed.

That dog better go on to cure some disease or design a better light bulb...

My brother just got married to his English girlfriend -- but he's American.

I was getting ready to feel sorry for the "son" who I assumed was just a boy.
It's still sad. But you would think that a grown man would know better.

I don't see a quote from the train engineer in this article.
Were there any witnesses to the dog actually being on the tracks just before Steve tossed the dog off and the train hit him?
This sounds like people trying to excuse a suicide.

Looks like a poor attempt to cover up a suicide.

Not one of my many British cousins' children are married but they all have kids. It's pretty sad.

That's what I was thinking! Instead of a MOTHER'S RING, he should have been buying her a WEDDING RING.
geesh, is a "mother's ring" something new?

"To think that Steven died trying to save a dog seems crazy. But that is the kind of person he was. He wasn't thinking of himself." No, he wasn't thinking of himself, but he damn well wasn't thinking about his family to be either. I bet his unborn child will be happy to know dad died for a f**king dog.

Ex Pittsburgh Steeler Steve Courson was killed by a falling tree trying to save his dog. Same thing...
