Thanks for the ping.
Where did you get that number from? Assuming all other thing were equal, I would have expected about 12.
The 2004 crude birth rate (14.0 births per 1,000 total population)

Well if they would stop dressing the boys like girls the ratios would be back in line...LOL
Thanks for the link; my point remains the same.
I saw Jan & Dean perform twice about 1980, when Jan was trying to make his comeback 24 years after crashing his Corvette at Dead Man's Curve. Sadly, he was paralyzed on once side and it was clear he was mouthing his vocals, which the keyboard player was singing with Dean Torrence. Of course, the last time I saw the Beach Boys play with Brian Wilson, he got up from his white grand piano during the middle of Good Vibrations and wandered around the stage until somebody came out and led him backstage. Another musician, apparently kept for just such an eventuality, appeared, took Brian's place, and finished the concert. Alas, I have no stories of weird performance by Dean Torrence.
Surf City was one of the great songs of that genre.
Someone should really do a check of Port Huron, MI stats.
There are similar petrochemical heavens and havens all over the globe. Someone should check their live birth sex ratios, and then they should rule out the presence of oral contraceptives and their metabolites in the water supply, especially if they also have fish with weird genitalia.
This is an infant science at present, my concern is that it doesn't become a mission.
