Did anyone see "Buena Vista Social Club" on TV. Gifted Cuban musicians, who here would be living quite nicely, live in squalor and filthy apartments. Some of the even spew back garbage about how Cubans have been taught to resist "material" possessions.
At the end, they bring a few of the greats to NY to perform in Carnegie. The scenes of them in NY brought tears to my eyes. It was obvious that these old men would have given anything to stay, but of course that couldn't happen.
Brilliant!
I wonder how the NYT would react if Bush announced that he was going to take out Castro once and for all.
I agree.
As usual the New York Times has it wrong.
The pressure is being put on Castro and communism.
Cubans will be ready for freedom when he dies.
There will still be plenty of people willing to risk their lives left in Cuba willing to see to it.
