That's what I'm saying though. We're in December of 2005. Since Bush let all of this go, we now have TONS of audio sound bites of Democrats saying moronic things and since he hasn't (until now) slapped them down, they just kept talking and kept talking.
Now, the Republicans have GREAT sound bytes just ripe for commercials all next year. We have Senators admitting they sent our troops to war they claim to disagree with now because they didn't read the documentation taht said why we should or shouldn't go.
For 2008, we sound bytes of John Kerry saying our troops were terrorizing the Iraqis' (in quotes that sound eerily like the quotes that the Swift Boaters beat him over the head with in 2004) and we have Howard Dean saying our troops can't win.
Plus, we have news clippings of the old media making statements (in their own paper) that contradicts itself.
If President Bush and his counterparts had told these people what morons they were 6 months ago, we wouldn't have all of this material to work with.
Plus...
Just remember, it only matters so much what people think today on December 16...as long as Bush can keep congress from doing something stupid like pulling the troops or fighting Bush on policy. Otherwise, we have MUCH more to win or lose based on opinion next year at the ballot box.
Public opinion of all this will matter a LOT more next year. The President may have been saving his ammo for next year when it counts.
Yes. VDH is quite right. Evil wears many disguises. We can sense evil, smell it, see it, feel it, be touched by it. Evil, exposed, sans mask(s) is ugliest.
W is a classic West Texan in his personality and style. He suckers his opponents by intentionally butchering the English language. They think he's a rube while he plays rope-a-dope with them. His firmness, plain language, unpretentious mannner, and simple morality are also hallmarks of that Midland, Texas culture. Definitely one of the greatest American presidents!
I agree, except for the statement that "...we wouldn't have all of this material to work with..."
I think the libs would still be making the same statements, but the impact on the electorate might not be as large.
